Who's Best Live 2 years ago

I saw them a few times in their heyday in the mid-seventies and even though I am crazy about Springsteen, the Who is still the best live act I have ever witnessed. Not sure if they are still relevant but I am sure they Daltry and Townsend can still cut the mustard.

The only problem I have with The Who 2 years ago

Is that they made me become addicted to CSI. I would watch the intro because I knew Who Are You was coming up and then, since I had to see what happened, would watch the wrest of the show. But I forgive them.
The Who is the best band to see live. Not only do they rock but they get the best opening acts. The Pretenders opened for them last night and they sounded great.
Rodger Daltrey had bronchitis and struggled for the first couple of songs, but after he loosened up gave a fine performance. He and Townshend have such wonderful stage presence and are a joy to watch.
If you are a fan of The Who you should pick up their new album. Townshend said that they write songs about the relationship between the band and the audience and I think that’s why their music is still relatable. Music fans don’t know what it’s like to be recognized wherever they go or have more money than Paris Hilton. The only connection a bad like The Who has with their audience is the literal relationship they have when they play and a listener hears a that familiarity in songs written from that place.
What makes seeing The Who live uniquely fantastic is the fact that they play their hits and seem to truly enjoy playing them. On one hand, who wouldn’t love playing Baba O’Riley or You Better You Bet? But more than that, Who songs are real compositions that also just happen to fucking rock!

What a night! 3 years ago

On the 17th of June 2006, The Who returned to Leeds University Student Union Refectory to recreate their legendary peformance. The night before the gig, I managed to get hold of a pair of tickets to go. It was an unbelievable night, especially as it was my first rock gig.
