Moved! 19 months ago

Now all that’s left is moving out of the old place… I have to get it all cleaned up and repainted, and count down each and every last trip down (and up again) those stairs to the trash cans as one fewer trip I’ll have to make before I’m all done. :)

Less than a week to go 19 months ago

I called the moving guys up Thursday and asked them to make it a 4-man crew after all. It’s $40/hour more, but hopefully it may go faster (especially the moving-out part, which is out of a third-floor walk-up, so it’s all manual, no elevators). And in the new place, the freight elevator costs me $50/hour so if it takes an extra hour to unload into the new place, the movers vs. elevator fees work out the same (and for the same money, I’d prefer faster). The expense is still … well, frightening, honestly, I hate spending large sums of money. But it’s worth it.

I am always uncertain about tipping etiquette, so I did some reading. Looks like it is somewhere in the $25-$50/mover range, typically. I had mentally budgeted $50/mover, so I’m glad I was in the ballpark. On Thursday, I’ll have to go shop for bottled water and Gatorade and stock the fridges at both apartments for them.

Now I really need to get back to packing… too bad I’m so SICK of it! :)

Getting started 20 months ago

Well, so far I’ve apartment-hunted, signed a lease, hired my movers, gotten a date settled on, called to arrange for my elliptical trainer’s original store’s installation guys to come back out to disassemble it for me (waiting on a date for that) prior to moving, boxed up about a dozen boxes, and gotten about a carload of stuff ready to go donate. Now I’m really only dithering over if I should stick with my 3-man moving crew, or pony up for a 4-man crew (the freight elevator costs me $50/hour at the new place!! OMG.).

3 weeks until M-day! I can do this. Even if my living room is completely full of boxes right now…

new apt rocks – no roomies = no clothes :)

finally done 3 years ago

I’ve “lived” in my apartment for over a year. My things were all 4 states away in my parent’s shed. Today, I finally moved all my things here. Well, moved them Tuesday, loaded them into my apartment today. I can’t move, and haven’t unpacked nearly anything, but its so great. I am finally home.
