Amble is pondering the possibilities of life.
Great experience. I hate flying. I get incredibly anxious, woozy, and my ears don’t take well to the pressure changes. Plus I always wanted to see the country via train. After deciding to go across country for school, I figured it’d be the perfect time to take a train. I’ve taken the trip by train four times now and will continue to do so. Great when you want a nice, leisurely ride with some beautiful scenery. You meet the most interesting people that way, as well. It’s rather lovely.
Bathrooms are pretty miserable but it’s a small price to pay for a nice trip.

I want to go either to Vancouver BC or Portland (by way of Seattle, since there are no passenger trains here).

I find that one of the best things about travelling is a train trip. I simply enjoy them. The ablity to meet new and interesting people. How the slow unwinding of the scenery allows your mind and thoughts to unwind.
Definitely a must.

...since I watched “Murder on the Orient Express.” “Midnight Run” drove the idea home.

I’m talking about a trip from NYC to Raleigh, NC that lasted forever. They kept having to stop the train for long periods because some mechanism was overheating. The woman in the seat next to me had taken off her shoes and her feet stank. From now on I’ll either drive or fly, thanks.
