I feel in particular need of this, the anonymity, the soft spoken staff, whe comfort, the solitude and absence of mediocrity.
I have decided not to stay with friends on my next trip to London, but instead seek out a Hotel.
On reflection, this goal is to do with a desire that I have always felt for itinerance/ how i hate to be fixed, in one place.
Dinner in a huge dining room, served with unctuous formality; heavy silver cutlery, porcelain…
I met a man once who lived for six years in a hotel in Little Venice, Maida Vale London, the one where freud stayed when he arrived there from Nazi occupied Vienna.
But Maida Vale was a lot seedier then than it is now, and I guess this was just about affordable. Anyay the fellow I spoke to seemed to have enjoyed his six years enough.
Does anyone know anyone who has done this? I’d be curious to know how they found it?
This is going to hav to be put on hold for a while.
I simply don’t have the sort of income that would allow it, though if anyone would like to sponser me, do give me a line.
