My Students~

Today due to their parents’ discussions one of my students said in class, “MS. G. I am sad that you will not be a teacher at our school next year…” and several other kids chimed in on the subject…pretty soon a discussion was going full force….and I had to settle them down and try to diplomatically let them know that it is not the principal’s fault…and it is not that anyone is trying to be mean….We talked about finances….
Many of the children shared about their own family’s financial hardships…losing cars, and houses to repossession…and maybe having to move back to home countries and move in with relatives….
One sweet little boy said…”Ms. G. I know what I am going to do… I have money from my birthday and I am going to tell Ms. O (our principal) that I will give that money so you can still be our teacher next year..” (OMG!!!! I almost started crying that was so sweet… ) He is the same boy who wishes me a good lunch everyday by saying… “Have a great lunch Ms. G.” as we part at the cafeteria…..

The Value of an Hour

The Value of an Hour
can not measured for lovers~
because when they are together
time does not exist.
Only the moments of understanding
and caring that are a language unknown
to everyone else except them.
Each second holds infinity inside it
when they are together,
and pure joy is theirs freely,
a gift that is given between them,
without any earning or gaining,
it simply is,
it exists as a precious secret charm
hanging around each others neck
and it is priceless and so treasured….
How can we know
the length of an hour for lovers,
when they are together
or apart
the hour is endless….
both so satisfying and painful ~
depending on their location~
but thankfully for them…
it takes a moment to visit the other
in mind or spirit
and once again
they can enter the endless hour…
forever….
