How to become a stripper by perfectviolet

How I did it: I am not nearly as amazing as Rebecca Avalon. I know of her, and respect her greatly! I didn't become a stripper for long-term financial goals. I did it because it was always something I was curious about, I come from a dancing background, and everyone told me not to. A bit of rebellion in there!

Because I come from a dancing and modeling background, learning to dance in heels was no problem. There was a learning curve before I could do pole tricks and such, but I took a couple classes (Yes! Pole dancing classes!), learned my tricks, went into my club early and had FUN.

To get hired, all I did was go onstage at the amateur night at the club I wanted to be hired at. I did a lot of club hopping before I settled on my current club, and now I'm happy and understand the business. I've been dancing nearly 2 years now. My self esteem is AMAZING, I learned to handle rejection better, and I learned who I was and what my morals and values really were because of all the things I was faced with. I value my relationship with my FANTASTIC fiance more, I have learned to look at myself as beautiful ... it was a fantastic experience for me. There are many downsides and a lot of bull to get past when you first start, but I found my confidence and I am SO glad I did.

Lessons & tips: First? Don't give up. REALLY look at yourself, find some resources. Decide WHY you want to be a dancer. You need to have some idea of who you are and what you want, or the industry will destroy you and spit you out. You'll be another statistic! Don't do that!

Take some classes, find some forums, find support. You'll be fine.

    I worked as a nurse froa long time and dint realise how much money strippers make. When i started stripping it wasnt easy and was in an environment that i didnt know or feel comfortable with. It does get easier as time passes.
