the yogurt is made is pretty much perfect, just like the yogurt i had in kathmandu.
this first batch cost $1 per cup, but now that i’ll have my own starter, it will be about 60 cents per cup. not bad for 100% organic yogurt.

It was so easy. I used St. Benoit for starter, 1 T each glass. Boiled, then cooled organic whole milk, added some milk solids, stirred. Yogurt maker (my mom’s, from the 70’s) for 5 hours, then into the fridge.
This morning, perfection!

kiwi and passionfruit. luscious flavor doesn’t make up for the thin consistency.

Pomegranate flavor. Brilliant, thick, subtle sweetness. This has been one of my favorites.

another greek style yogurt that i found at trader joes. i got the plain, 2% version and topped it with warmed honey.
another one of my favorites! i do like the thicker styles. i’ve saved half just in case i want to use this as my starter for my own project.
i can almost not eat my old standby anymore, safeway brand lowfat (peach or cherry). it seems too sweet and too fake now.

found it a trader joes, a two pack (in a cute glass jar) for $2.99. apricot flavor, lovely, but not overpowering. biggest disadvantage here is serving size….10.6 oz, i like to eat more than this (is this why italians are so skinny?)

swiss yogurt. lemon was nice, the black cherry a little too sweet.
i think this may be the yogurt i use for starter. i borrowed a yogurt maker from my mom and want to now make my own.

AOK suggested it, and it was really tasty. i got lemon flavor, smooth, perfect balance of sweet and flavor.
this was a nice surprise, and i want to try the other flavors.

from trader joes. a serving is 2T, so this is not your typical yogurt. very thick. with honey it’s a real treat, but almost too rich to eat as yogurt.

brilliant.
the texture has some crunch, with the fig seeds. but the flavor….divine.
one of the best i’ve had.
