How I did it: i went to best buy bought a portable hard drive went home plugged it into a USB port and went to start then to all programs from there i clicked the accessories tab followed by the system tools then pressed backup it  started up back up or restore wizard and clicked next clicked that i was backing up files and not restoring computer then i choose how much i wanted to backup after that i choose the port my portable hard drive was in then it started and it kept running for like a whole day Read how I did it… 23 months ago

so yesterday at around three in the morning a black out happened and my power surge protector didn’t work i was unaware that battery backups only have a life of 6yrs who’d a known anyway my computer wouldn’t start long story short it shorted the power supply to my already old computer but before i knew that my friends were scaring me with what it could have been by the end of it i thought i would be buying a new tower all i could think of was all the knitting patterns i took time and effort to collect and lost so when i found out it was only the power supply that needed to be changed i was ecstatic and while there i vowed never to let this scare me again so i picked up a portable hard drive start>all programs>accessories>system tools>back up and followed the directions its been downloading ever since 23 months ago
