We have to look clearly at ourselves Meditation is the vehicle to slow us down enough to do our work. Meditation will quiet the mind and help us get clarity, so that we can then do the work on ourselves. It is not so much about changing ourselves but rather being “aware” of how we are in the world. Waking us up so that we can be more authentic. If we have enough quiet inside to see what we are doing we can change.
Self awareness requires a lot of energy. If we are wasting energy in large quantities or not restoring our energy thru rational living, then the task in almost insurmountable.
Are you engaged in a serious attempt to know yourself. Seriousness is a prerequisite to this process. Drugs and overeating allow us to escape from our inner loneliness or pain or fear.
Are you overeating to the point of ill health?
Binge eating can come from a lack of feeling safe.
The purpose of Yoga is to construct a mirror of the self.
Yoga brings the body to a state of real health and clarifies the mind, transforms sluggishness and laziness to a state of alertness, and moves us into a state of balance. From this state only can we clearly and fearlessly gaze into the void of ourselves.
Yoga can bring the mind, body and spirit into balance and harmony.
Yoga means “Union”, as it harmonizes the body, breath, mind and spirit. To “Yoke” means to harness one’s energies cand connotes “effort”. Sometimes when feeling anxious, unfocused and tight, yoga can make you feel warm, loose, relaxed, calm and perhaps more connected to your source.
