This model isn’t quite right for the kind of statement I want to make. A single checklist becomes either too flexible and vague, or too tight and stringent and judgmental. I’m going to go another route and ditch this lame path.

The clean sweep is a list of 100 things you can do to achieve complete personal freedom. I think it’s a bit skewed to encourage a safety and security rather than freedom, personally, so I want to make my own list. Ideally, it would be great for 43 Things to have its own endorsed list of goals that would lead to our version of complete freedom: an extraordinary life.
So, I’m going to start on this mission by attempting to create a list of 100 goals that I think will lead, or become, an extraordinary life. I can already tell that it’s going to be pretty difficult… because an extraordinary life is such a personal thing. Who knows what it will take? And yet, goals need to be specific rather than general.
The key will be to allow my bias to be visible… just as it is in the clean sweep checklist listed above. My version of extraordinary living will not be for everyone… nor will it be the only or the best checklist. It’ll just be mine.
I think one way to start it is to create a bunch of different categories, like:
- Exercise, Diet
- Work
- Money
- Family, Friends
- Love, Relationships
- Spirituality
- Habits
- Hobbies, Art
- Fun, Play
- Travel
And we can move on from there…
