I have studied French for three years at school and it’s been a while so I’m going to brush it up a little with some self-study material I found from the library and hopefully I will be able to speak some more French when I visit France again.

I’ve brushed it up so I can converse a bit with my boy’s French family (though of course there’s always room for improvement – I particularly need to work on spontaneity now I’ve got a better grounding).
I’ve been doing a French class this term, although I have not worked as hard as I should have. I’ve found it a bit boring and need to concentrate more. The language isn’t flowing naturally enough yet to get caught up in it, but hopefully that’ll happen next term.
I’m going to meet my boy’s French family next week and need to be able to do more than gesticulate, use the wrong verb endings and accidentally mix in up with German.
up to level 5 (niveau cinque) many many moons ago but am sadly out of practice.
I can help you learn French from the perspective of somebody who is an English native speaker who has learnt several other langauges…I have already felt your pain…I even learnt a little Russian from a teacher speaking French only… :-)
