SlayneB coming up on 15 years of sobriety!

Okay I've found my race 7 months ago

and my left arm is completely healed, which is a miracle for it had been weird for over a year, and I was beginning to think it was permanent. And we’ve joined the YMCA which has an outdoor/indoor pool with training lanes, and indoor track, and all sorts of biking stuff.

The race is in six months from now, and is called a ‘sprint triathlon’, which is what I guess is the official terminology for mini-triathlon. The one after that is an Iron Man, so I really don’t think so. So this is…

400 meter swim, 10 mile bike, 2.5 mile run (why the mix metric/American measures). So this is doable with six months training, even for someone out-of-shape and older like me. The sites I have been checking out say six months training is reasonable for this.

So I’ve picked the ‘Race the Troops Triathlon’ on Oct. 18, which is in a park close by and conveint for me, as the last thing I need with nerves is to figure out a new city.

Here I come!

Okay 11 months ago

I’m checking schedules, I’m thinking in six months or so, I know they have one at Disney, put on by Danskin, also there is one July 4 nearby.

Since it is January, I’m looking at training schedules, and setting up a training program. I am older, out of shape, my upper left arm has gone wonky on me the last few months, so the goal is to simply to finish this thing, even if I’m the last person. I have a strong feeling I need to do this.

My dream 11 months ago

is to do a mini-triathlon. I live in a warm area so that is not a problem. But ‘mini’ is the key here! lol.

first-timer 19 months ago

one morning I woke up and decided that I wanted to try completing a mini triathlon and since then have been trying to find a good website that will show me an event calendar so that I can begin planning my training schedule, etc.

Does anyone know where I can find this information?

A call to action 3 years ago

I have a group of friends who have been participating in sprint triathlons for a few years and I have always told them that I could not commit enough to the sport to invest in the bicycle. Well, this past weekend my mother informed me that there was a new bicycle sitting in the garage gathering dust so it must be a sign. It’s time for me to get off of my butt and exercise again!

Danskin's is the best! 3 years ago

I am not particularly athletic but I tried and finished this sprint triathlon in 2002! This race series is the best for first-timers! They also have mentors to assist with training!
