I’ve got a lot of creative friends both local and remote and the run the range of full time artists to people I love swapping stories with over beers.
For a while now I’ve had this idea where I want to do a one time literary/art journal and get all of my friends to submit. A fun project for the year where I ask all of them to submit a story or a poem or a photograph or a drawing or just a two paragraph reason why I should buy a bottle of their favorite wine. If they don’t want to send something in I’d ask them to pass it on to someone else.
In the end I’d gather it all up, pick the best stuff, and get a book made just in time to give one to everyone as a gift. There are some great services now (www.blurb.com) that look like they could assist in that process. Probably would put it up online somewhere to.
Crazy idea? Think it would work… I think so.

I just can’t seem to escape my literary background. I’ve been meaning to do this for about three years now. At one time I even had an ISSN (The people at the LOC are SO helpful!), but I’m sure it’s expired by now and I’ll need to apply for another one. I no longer work with one of the women who was supposed to help me, and another person who was supposed to help me is having family related trials of a personal nature, so I don’t know when I will be able to do this. Publishing isn’t really a one-man operation.

It’s started. I’m going to go ahead and post an address at which people can send their subscription money. It will be a post office box in the city. I’ll go ahead and register it as a business, and get the copies ready to print. Should be ready to distribute by Thanksgiving.

1) as I’m now full time employed by a local warehouse, plus working as a teacher and journalist;
2)the journal has expenses which should not depend on my other economic activities.
Monday. This should have an auspicious feeling, and it does. We’re going to have a great week.

This morning at noon I stopped by to confer with the assistant editor. After discussing some routine business, I shared my web log with her. The editor approached, we chatted a bit, and I showed her our web journal too.
I left her the copy to peruse at her leisure, or just to leave it there, or whatever.

with a woman who is going to the Dakotas to be a teacher/missionary.
She will go to Pine Ridge. I asked her if she would like to write a letter about her impressions of life there.
She is a math tutor at our vocational college. She’ll be leaving by plane this Monday, and catching a ride with an elder.

We’re looking for cutting-edge, avant-garde, but also some classic topics which will always essential, intrinsic to being, to reality…
Oh man, I shouldn’t have taken that second glass of Merlot.
Let me finish watching the Incredibles, that Pixar comic film.
