Take 43 Photographs of my life

One of my past times is archaeology, and I volunteer at the Grand Canyon. I like it for several reasons. First the canyon is so beautiful and is constantly changing. Second, there is quite a bit of archaeology at the canyon and I have learned most of the pottery types. Third, it’s a rewarding feeling volunteering to help understand a part of the country’s history. And I enjoy camping out. I understand why people fall in love with the canyon. It’s so huge that you could never really explore the entire area in one lifetime.

There’s a really interesting cemetery nearby where I go and take pictures of graves for people who post to findagrave.com. For all the years I have lived in Pasadena, I had never visited this cemetery mainly because they tend to be places I avoid. Well, it’s really beautiful and there are a lot of graves from people who founded Pasadena and Altadena. It’s actually quite nice to spend an afternoon there.

OK, so most people ride a motorcycle up Angeles Crest on weekends. But I needed to get a picture of 10 motorcycles and 10 motorcycle riders plus my scooter. So I rode to Newcomb’s and found some willing volunteers… It was a fun ride which I have done almost every weekend for the past several weeks. I prefer to go later in the day after the majority of the racers have had their thrills.

Cats are an important part of my life. This little one is a sweet cat I rescued from New Mexico. She is very independent but also very loving. I like her mismatched ears.

I really enjoy bicycling. I like the fact that you utilize your own power to get places. I like seeing all the things that you miss when driving by at 65 mph. I love the smells and feeling the change in temperature as you move through the countryside.

I didn’t understand the attraction for roses until I planted some in my yard. In this climate they are like weeds, they thrive with very little care and reward you with lovely blossoms and a sweet scent. This roses are at the Rose Bowl (how fitting). I have tea roses in my front yard and I love how they smell.

I work at JPL. It is very close to the Rose Bowl (and my house). I think that at night it looks kind of like Oz, all lit up against the hills that form a nice backdrop.

I love the Rose Bowl area. It’s a great place to walk, run, bicycle or just enjoy the greenery in the city.

I went for a scooter ride yesterday and had my camera so I took some photos to work on this goal. Let’s see if I can upload them for everyone to enjoy. This is the Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena, made famous in many movies and commercials.

I finally bought a camera to replace the one I accidentally broke close to a year ago. So now I don’t have any excuse why I am not making progress on this goal. I have taken a few photos of things at work which fall under this goal.
