Music is inherently derivative. However, I am consatnly finding myself using material that is old hat. standard, pat, and generic. Of course my first goal is it for it sound good, and work and be pleasing and make me money. On the other hand I need much more originality. I need something to set me apart. I also want to be remembered after I am gone for having created something unique and special. As of right now I am still very green and finding a voice. I need to work diligently and think about this very deeply before I can come up with something that is bold and unique. It is something I should re-approach every few years as well so I can continue to innovate throughout my long career.

people copy my ideas, i copy peoples ideas. its just how things work. for a while i just believed that there was no originality left in the world. but i decided that im not going to let that happen and i want to have my own feelings and ideas turned into actions and i dont care if people copy me, as long as its something new.

I wrote this one after I saw that so many others had the exact same items on their lists. I felt bad that I was having difficulty with generating items for my list. I am working on expanding my horizons and getting those creative juices flowing…or something.
