I have noticed Wendell Berry’s books in the homes of friends that I highly respect and admire. These friends have also personally recommended his works, even the authors of the books I enjoy have recommended or referenced his writing, including Barbra Kingsolver and Michael Pollen.
After becoming more familiar with Wendell Berry and the themes that are generally present, I have realized that I share a very similiar outlook with him. Particularly the importance of sustainability in farming, the pleasures found in good food and good work, and the miracle and interconnectedness of life. Also, I seem to view the same things as threats – such as industrialization of farming and life, ignorance, greed and environmental destruction so often found in today’s society. I am definitely looking forward to reading and becoming more familiar with his works.
