I’m going to spend a week in New York with one of my favorite people in the world. I can’t imagine a better way to get to know a city for the first time.

I checked on flight & hotel info for visiting NYC. Not so cheap, of course! I fantasized just booking a flight & hotel w/o much notice, just for a couple of days, to see if that kind of spur of the moment travel plan seemed easier or more difficult to follow through with.
Some friends nabbed a double room at the Grand Hyatt NY for less that $100 per night on a Priceline name your own price deal last year. ~why didn’t I just go along with them?
Where else could I attempt a quick trip? Hmm. Maybe Austin & vicinity. A few things I’d like to do there. Chicago, maybe, although I know less about it, I’ve heard tons positive info abt it. South Carolina – ditto on the raves.
Worth doing!
This was a great mini-vacation that our family took to NYC. It was much cleaner than I imagined, the people were friendly and the food was fantastic! I want to go back, because there is so much more that I didn’t get to see.
Flutterbyflyby3 is ready for new challenges!
I have visited NYC once in my life. I was 2 years old. I remember several things: the hospital where I almost died & was given last rites; a cuckoo clock belonging to my grandparents neighbors, and a parakeet someone owned.
My Daddy grew up in NYC and I think it is time to visit it. There is a bus tour going in October & Mom & I think we should sign up.
dinabeth Saying goodbye to my daughter who will be studying in Rome and be away
I’ve stayed in Broklyn, upstate near catskill, and I’m in Kingston now. I’m heading to Atlantic City tomorrow for a couple of days then back to Brooklyn
I’m enjoying my stay – there’s lots to see and do
everyone should be required to do this once in their life. I say this not because I am obsessed with new york city (unlike, um, everyone i know, ever.) but because it’s just one of those places where having experienced it will hopefully make everyone a bit more openminded :p
Melanie is still twenty, still can't go out to the clubs.
Worth doing!
I took a twelve-hour train ride from Michigan and stayed in a hostel in New York for a week when I was 17. It was fantastic – but then I actually like being catcalled. c :
I took the InsideCNN tour, visited the Museum of Natural History, laid in Central Park and looked at the clouds, and saw Criss Angel perform at Bryant Park.

Give me porn and true-grit instead of empty facades and artifice any day!

Worth doing!
I first visited the City when I met my now husband and wanted to go and visit him. We had the time of our life going all around Times Square and club hopping.
Now that we’re married and live in Phily we go to NYC at least once per month. My husband’s mother still lives in Brooklyn so we always have a free place to stay in her three story brownstone.
I STILL haven’t seen a play on broadway or really any of the tourist spots. That’s next!
SECOND_TIME_AROUND Did 50 miles last week, and doing it again this week!
I always lived in a small town. I was amazed by the tall buildings, and the millions of people..everywere. I took a full day tour the first time…I didn’t know what was there. I went back by train twice a year, and went everywhere. Saw lots of plays!! Ate lots of food! Back when it was pretty cheap to go, if you worked at finding the right combos etc. Haven’t checked, but I think the room rates are out of site.
