write for publication

i’m thinking about possible proposals for regional publications – Atlantic Canadian. it might prove to be a good starting point because it’s a small market without a lot of competition.

i’ve been obsessed with this since i was around 16 or 17. i bought a great book back in those days, called The Canadian Writer’s Market, and reading through all those possibilities fueled my dreams.

although, i was always apprehensive about writing for submission – i had always been terribly embarrassed to share things that i’d created. but i’m not like that anymore; now, i just find it a bit difficult to be inspired. and also, i’m quite critical and re-edit my work ad-nauseum.

I have sketched out some article ideas and I have a magazine in mind. I’ve printed out their guidelines. Next step—full outlines.
