Ziva_David I'm just a fucked up girl looking for my own piece of mind.
I have such a passion for dance, i have since i was young, but i never did anything about it. and i always found excuses for not following through with my passion, like its too late now, or i dont have the money to spend on dance classes… but i realized that those excuses were just there to cover up my fears of “what if im not good enough?” and “what if i get laughed at?” and you know what i just finally said to myself that’s crap. You always say to follow your heart and do what makes you happy but you’re never taking your own advice. I refuse to let fear hold me back any longer.
So, im gonna do it. I gonna dance and not care what anyone thinks about it.
This year for the first time I joined a dance class as my elective. Half as a joke, it was the first time I didn’t do what was expected of me. As the primary ‘visual art talent’ in my year no one expected me to join “slut class” the derogatory term that the kids at my school call that elective. The dance program was reserved for “pretty girls” with no talents or brains and only their looks to get them anywhere in life. MY looks are not going to get me ANYWHERE.
It took me a while to realize that joining the class with the neon pink walls and the Barbie dolls was my way of rebelling. Rebelling against the goody two-shoes book worm non-conformist opinionated fair-trade chocolate eating tree hugging genious that everyone else expected me to be. It was SO liberating. It allowed me to adopt different thought patterns meet new people and grab a glimpse of my real self. I call her dancing Alë, lately since the semester ended and I stopped dancing and letting dancing Alë out of me. I miss her. But a semester of dance does not a dancer make.
Who is Dancing Alë? What makes her different from me? Hopefully becoming a dancer (a real one) will bring Dancing Alë back. We’ll see.
i wish some one can give me a scholorship to a dancing school I CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi
Iv danced ever since i was really small, i started of when i was about 4 doing ballet. like most little girls i danced around in my little ballet shoes looking really cute, but i only did it for a while. I still loved dancing and put on little shows for my mum dad and sister to see! i practiced all day and made up a routine and then they would watch me, i was only about 6. Then i was in year 2 (infant school)there was a leaflet advertising street dancing, my mum took me allong to the class , it was in my school hall after school. i was really nervouse because i didnt know anyone except this little girl called Lauren who i asked if she wanted to come because i didnt know anyone, she soon lost interest and gave up.There was this other girl called Jemma I didnt know her just knew of her because she was in my year but not my class i had never spoken to her properly before. We soon became friends and really enjoyed the dance class. Our dance teacher vicky and (nicky who helped her)asked us if we wanted to start latin and ballroom dancing and join a dance team ( a formation team). Our mums talked it through and decided we could , i was really excited but nervose too! I went allong to the class on a saturday morning at bluebell hill and started latin dancing. I first started in my trainers plodding up and down. In my group was Charley, Amy, me and jemma :). we soon came really good friends and so did our mums! i must have looked a right mess jumping around everywhere in my trainers. Us four had our own latin group trained by sarah and vicky our main teacher took a bigger class who had been doing it longer. Soon after that the formation started. There was my team witch was a 6 couple (12 people) and a smaller team witch was a 4 couple (8 people in it), they were all 6-7 years old and then there was an older team. We trained all year and went up to Blackpool to sance in the tower balroom in the british championships latin formation dancing. we were so little and really nervouse. It was really fun in the end and i really wanted to do it next year. I am now 13 years old and have been dancing for 7 years. I will allways remember my first blackpool:) it was amazing. I go every year and it will be my 6th year next year i think. There has been fake tan, nails, lashes, sequins, sweat, tears and hard work put in every year, its so fun and great when my team gets in to the final:) i love dancing soo much!
a really want to become a dancer a have been self taught maself for year but just dont know how to go about it.
You think you can dance? I liked American Idol, but it was missing an element that is soooo urban that it would be a crime to leave it out in the pop and hip hop world, however, there is still one person to achieve the supreme dream. Who do you think was the best although the results were definite?
