Some things you may not know about me...

I’m nothing fabulous, and certainly not about to release an albumn or anything, but I can carry a tune.

I was always incredibly shy about singing in front of people – but thanks to good old SingStar, I’ve been cured of that! I’m particularly good doing Madonna, Nickleback and Meatloaf!! :-)

I LOVE to sing!!!

I garden at ALL HOURS. When gets dark, I light a huge fire
and plug in a flood light!

I’ve been sick for about 2 and half weeks, and I’ve finally had to face facts and come home from work early! I always feel like I’m faking it or something – it’s weird! I’ve had a horrible cough, can barely speak and now have a completely blocked nose and terrible headaches… but until a day or two ago, I was still insisting I was fine!

Well, I’m not fine. I feel like crap. There, I said it… I’M SICK!!!

1. What time did you get up this morning?

I got up at 7.30 this morning – bit of a sleep in!

2. Diamonds or pearls?

Diamonds… definitely diamonds!

3. What was the last film you saw at the
cinema?

Hmm… god, I can’t remember! We saw Jumper and Fool’s Gold at the drive in’s a while back – that was probably the last time we went out to see a movie!

4. What is your favorite TV show?

I have a few! Bit of an Angel fan, Firefly, Dexter, Tru Calling, Supernatural, the new Doctor Who… (bit of a pattern really isn’t there??)

5. What do you usually have for breakfast?

Well… usually, nothing. (I know, I know!!) Sometimes fruit, or toast.

6. What food do you dislike?

McDonalds, sun dried tomatoes, pumpkin.. (but I love pumpkin soup – go figure!)

7. What is your favorite CD at this moment?

Listening to U2 a lot at the moment

8. What kind of car do you drive?

A silver Laser sedan… her name’s Lucy :-)

9. Favorite sandwich?

Not meant to eat bread (gluten intolerance) but if I have one, I like chicken and avocado. Otherwise, I like cream cheese, avocado and cashews on crispbread.

10. What characteristic do you despise?

Fake, rude, people with low self esteem who boost themselves by putting others down.

11. Favorite item of clothing?

My pj’s

12. If you could go anywhere in the world on
vacation, where would you go?

Ireland, France, Spain.

13. Favorite brand of clothing?

Don’t have one

14. Where would you retire to?

I don’t know! Never thought about it!

15. What was your most recent memorable
birthday?

This year in January – 42 degrees celcius, 20 odd people at our place at a cocktail party! Ended up ditching the dressing up idea (way too hot!) and everyone got very drunk on cocktails – we even forgot the big birthday cake in the fridge until everyone had left at 3am! Hahaha!

16. Favorite sport to watch?

Hmm.. sport.. umm… nope – none!

This is 43T – all over the world baby!!

Night! Love the night!

Huge! at least a 10. Sometimes 11! (Well.. I AM 5’10”!)

Not at the moment – my fish Brian and Kevin have both gone to big fishbowl in the sky!

I’m in love!! Oh I know – it’s not new.. but it’s still exciting – and that’s pretty good after 2 years!!

little?

A grown up! And an author.

Sick. Shocking cough and headache. Blah!

Chocolate

I think this is such an awesome way to get to know new people…..I don’ do it enough!

I find strange things absolutely hilarious and others often think I’m odd!

Sometimes, this is a good thing. But sometimes, it’s self destructive and just plain ridiculous.

At work I let people ‘get away’ with inappropriate behaviour because I don’t want to confront them and have them get upset. I’m not talking about really inappropriate stuff – I would definitely step in if a child was being mis-treated or something – I’m talking about things like staff not wearing hats outside, even though children have to and it is in our policies that staff have to aswell, or staff talking to each other about their weekend when they should be concentrating on being with the children. (Thankfully this doesn’t happen often) Even with the running of the room, I’m very diplomatic and I listen to and consider and allow them to try different things – even when I know from experience that it wont work. I always want to be the ‘good’ boss who allows everyone to have input.

Well, that attitude has come back and bit me on the arse. I’ve had it with always being nice and always giving people the benefit of the doubt.

Tomorrow night we’re having a team meeting and easy-going, nice, push over Gypsy is going to lay the law down, tell them how it’s gonna be and accept their responses – whatever they may be. I will continue to listen to everyone’s input, but I’m going to be much more choosy about the things we try out. If I know it wont work, or I just don’t like it, I will just tell them straight away and say no. If they get offended, that is their issue… not mine.

I don’t want to be someone who seeks conflict, but I have to stop the fear of conflict negatively affecting the way I lead my team.

Yesterday, J and I went to the beach with 3 of my friends for a christmas brunch picnic. The beach we go to has a little grassy stretch which we always sit on. It was 11am, it was 31 degrees C, nice clear day… and incredibly stupid Gypsy didn’t even think to put sunscreen on.

So of course, because I had a skirt on, my lower legs (about mid-shin down) and the top of my feet are absolutely red raw – they’re swollen and stinging and I’m in so much pain when I stand up I’ve been in tears 4 times today. I also have burnt arms from the elbow down, a pink chest and slightly pink cheeks and nose.

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I’m usually the annoying bitch who says “Has everyone got sunscreen – gotta look after your skin…” I can not believe I wasn’t more careful.

I’m paying for it now, that’s for sure. Haven’t had this bad a burn for years and years… never thought I would again actually. I’m going to have issues with skin cancers when I’m older, I just know it. And it’s my own damn fault.

Stupid!

Yep… not sure if it stems from vanity or paranoia… but other than when I’m alone at home, I think someone is watching.

I’m not talking about in a ‘God-is-watching-you’ way… I mean in a ‘the-neighbours-are-watching’ way! I walk out my front door – and I’m certain that someone is peeking out of a window. I sit in my car at the stoplights and I think that whoever is next to me must be looking at me… so I stop singing… (and I ever-so-gently push my chin out a little to get rid of my double chin… so yep – vanity!)

I really am a sad case! Maybe I think I’m in my own version of the Truman Show… I don’t know… it’s hilarious! I crack even myself up – so feel free to laugh!!

I think perhaps it stems from always being so conscious of how people see me – being overweight you kind of get used to people averting their eyes, so maybe that’s why I think everyone is looking at me sneakily… checking out the fat chick in an ‘oh my God I can’t believe she leaves the house’ way.

Yup. Uh-huh. Gypsy’s lost the plot…

I know how self-depreciating and ‘poor-me’ this sounds, believe me… and I’m not usually like this (actually, I not ‘like this’ now… I’m not feeling down or anything… and I know I’m an intelligent and reasonably attractive woman… I’m just aware that people also judge me if they dont know me)

Anyway… there you go – now you know… I’m the star of my very own soap-opera/ sitcom/ romantic comedy (/ psychological drama occasionally!!!)
