work in a museum

I want to work in a museum because I thrive in creative and educational atmospheres. I think it is a great learning opportunity and a good way to share my knowledge with others. The experiences of being in the few museums I have visited were all very enriching.

I plan on starting an internship this summer through Everett Public Service Internships.

After two months of applying at various museums for a gamut of positions, I was hired to a local museum! I start the job tomorrow and I am very excited about it!

I would love to get a job at museum! I applied for two positions locally at two different museums and now I am holding my breath.

it’s been 2 years since my first day at the museum that I work for and that means it’s also been 2 years of economizing and financial pang. I love to be around the field of art but I get depressed at the same time when I find myself hesitating for a cup of starbucks.

Maybe something to do with science, history or natural history.

I’m the exhibits coordinator at our local museum and I love it. My job is stress free, and part time, but still pays well. It probably helps that we’re not a stuffy, snobby type museum.

The best way to get your foot in the door (if you don’t already have connections) is to volunteer at one. Since the majority (if not all) are non-profit, museums are in dire need of volunteers. I volunteer at the local Fine Arts museum and apart from knowing great people, I have made friends, get free entrance, and they have an annual volunteer appreciation party with food and drinks. It is great networking and I look forward to going every week.
