I just want to see if it’s as painful as everyone says it is.

How I did it: My friend's mum owns a salon and knew a lady with the skills. So I made an appointment. It was expensive ($75) but that's just the market here. I'd prepared mentally for pain equivalent to surgery sans anesthesia and so It was really just not that bad.
Lessons & tips: Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Ibuprofen?

I got my first bikini wax last month to help me work up to this goal. That wax sure is hot!

Totally worth it. Last year I so wanted to do this. One of my doctor’s offers “spa” treatments and I decided to ask about it and go for the gusto for my 8th wedding anniversary.
Hurt like the dickens, but I do it every couple months now. My husband LOVES it too. Shaving is awful for thick hair and I love that now my hair takes so long to grow in. I told my sister to try it and she loves it too. I say, what have you got to lose but hair:>
This turned out to be amazing! Well, the process was pretty painful, but totally worth it!
First off, take ibprophen before hand. Wow, does it make a difference. Take it an hour before.
Second, buy a loofah! Don’t use the loofah the same day or even the day after, but the next day. Use it every day and you will not get ingrown hairs.
The process only takes about 20 minutes. The first time is the worst. Whats cool is that not as much hair grows back afterwards. They say women who get waxed for years only have about 25% hair regrowth.
It’s really not that bad. The results are worth it!
Ok, after reading everyone’s entry I decided I’d fess up and tell my story. I’d really like to try this… but I am 1) very shy and 2) afraid of the pain.
I read someone else say that a salon she knows of does nose hair waxing too, and though she would do a brazillian wax, she’d never do the nose one. Well… after I read that I remembered how one time I plucked all the hairs out of my nose with tweezers, and I was surprised that it didn’t even hurt! Haha, I have done it ever since. It’s totally not painful as you would think, most of the time I feel nothing.
Then I remembered the time I tweezered ( yes with tweezers ) every hair down below… the same place we get a brazillian done. I used tweezers, it took me a long time, hours, and it was a little painful, one hair at a time, but the worst part was the regrown and ingrown hairs that were horrible! I was so embarrased I wouldn’t let anyone see me down there for nearly 3 months. It was bad.
I’m a bit of a brave one, but ever since the incident when I tweezed, I am just scared to death of ingrown hairs again… though I keep hearing how great this is, I am really afraid to experience that horror of red bumps all over down there. I’d rather just shave with a razor rather than have that happen again…
but I dunno… I’m thinking about it. :)
i want to do this because shaving sucks but how awkward..
and i mean what if im not normal you know and they talk about me all day. agh. i dunno if i could ever work up enough courage mentally to do this
I hate shaving, too painful with regrowth. I’d never gotten a wax before but I decided to go in for the whole nine yards, and I’m glad I did. It took a long time to grow back is the good part, and it doesn’t itch when growing back like shaving.
Hurts like a mo though O_O
A colleague highly recommended it, I purchased a jar of Nads Naughty Kit from my local supermarket ad its absolutely brilliant! No wax strips needed and cost less than $15.00. Im slightly overweight and couldnt bear the thought of inflicting my unsightly body on the waxer! I also wondered what they would think of a fat woman walking in for a full brazillian & if I would literally be the butt of their jokes for the day! so Ive be doing my own waxing with excellent results (although I must admit you might want to do a few stretches before hand)
I did this last week I had bought a waxing kit online. It worked great! I didn’t do it myself I had my boyfriend do it. I think if i tryied to do it myself i wouldn’t of got anywhere!
but it didn’t get all of the hair but most of it. (it actually said it wouldnt get all the hair the first waxing.) so i was very satified w/ my results i am going to keep waxing. I am also going to try waxing my armpits and my legs
the waxing kit was made by gigi and was a microveable wax I got it at www.folica.com
I have been considering this for a little while now. The only things holding me back are who to go to and how badly does it hurt? If anyone can let me know.
