Collector of junk and lots more Moving some time in the next millineum.

I thinned and divided my irises 4 months ago

last Sunday. It took some time, but I was able to spade a bed and had room for 20 plants when replanted. Right now, the rest are sitting in a bucket of water until I find someone who wants them or I find a place to plant them and the energy to do it. My daylillies are looking as if they’ll need dividing next year. The woman I bought them from has lots more to sell this year and if I want to match the colors I already have, I only have a few more days to get them or I’ll have to wait until next year.

End of May, 2009 5 months ago

I’ve never gotten around to planting anything this Spring besides the coleus in pots. All the iris I planted the past 2 years are looking healthy, however, and if I divide them this year I’m going to put them all together in a prepared bed instead of scattered around the yard..

Time to start planting! 7 months ago

Too late to plant more bearded irises, I think, so opefully the chickens haven’t eaten or trampled the ones I have. They were just starting to poke their heads up when I left on travel a week ago.

Time to start planting sun flower seeds, too. Need to find a way to protect everything from the chickens!

Sunflowers were a success 9 months ago

Over 40 of them bloomed last summer. The bearded Irises did very well, also. Going to actually see if I can get a cutting bed of flowers to bloom this year. If so, then I’ll consider this done.

Planning For Spring 2009 13 months ago

I’m not giving up on this goal, it just wasn’t in the works for 2008. I’ve always planted a few flowers each year and I did plant some Irises during the summer. But I truly want a nice flower garden in 2009.

And, unexpectedly.... 16 months ago

Flowers! There are two of these minute beauties and all of my other green stems have suddenly developed pods and buds in all shapes and sizes.

Most of the MGs are dead, but the first sunflower blooms 16 months ago

and a second sunflower is on the way. Perhaps it will bloom tomorrow? A half dozen more will also be ready, soon. Not the hundreds I dreamed of, but over the course of the summer, there could be 25 or 30… up to 40, if they all survive to that stage…

Most of the morning glories (MGs) died from lack of watering when I was on travel last. The hazards of having a disinterested teenage boy doing the watering. “Oh, those? I thought they were weeds.” Oh, well, he did a good job of taking care of the dog and the chickens. And of himself. That IS more important, but I do dream of someday having a fence of morning glory blooms.

Bud-ses! 16 months ago

One of my flowers has buds! No idea what it’ll be as this came out of the box of mixed seeds I tossed into my garden to see what would grow, but there are tiny little green balls attached to the end of one of the green stems. Gleee!

Now to keep it weeded…
