This seems to be going okay when I’m not to stressed and busy. Oh, except for the cookies… too many cookies…

I like to cook yummy foods 14 months ago

I like to cook for my wife because she really appreciates it. However, I seem to only know how to cook a few things. Every once in a while I come up with something new, but I am not sure how healthy it is at times. Sweet corn cake be damned! I want to cook healthy more often so it becomes a habit. I want healthy cooking to become part of my life so that when we have children they grow up eating healthy and don’t have the terrible eating habits my wife and I developed as children.

    asian slaw 15 months ago

delicious! i didn’t actually make it, my mom did, but i think i will be able to make this. very healthy, low calorie, and easy to make.

    the basic recipe is:
cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, onion, green onion, peanuts and raisins tossed with trader joe’s asian dressing (70 cals per 2 tbsps, found in the salad aisle)

you cook a lot. And because of my other goals, I made sure I kept it healthy.

Although, I indulge with the butter. It’s just so delicious in cooking…

Everyone in this house is overweight. Only one person cares – ME! We eat out too much. I want to stay home and cook healthy meals for myself and the two men in my life.

I managed to do a lot more cooking lately, simply by putting my nose in those recipes i had collected on the net for months and telling me: now you get the ingredients and you cook it! I have used vegetables i had never touched before! I think it’s just about trying a recipe, not expecting it to taste wonderful, if it’s any good you can always improve it the following times… I also got a pressure cooker that helps a lot in cooking vegetables, as i dont have to wait 40 minutes to have well cooked potatoes…
then it’s also about developping some basic recipes that you can accommodate with the vegetables of the season. I find thai food more and more interesting because it is generally light, uses many vegetables and spices, and pretty quick too…
It will be my goal in 2008 to continue cooking the way i do and get more and more knowledge abt cooking thai… advice welcome!
