How to vote for Barack Obama by joie de vivre

"Easy to do!"

How I did it: I received my ballot in the mail yesterday. I had already researched all the candidates and issues on the ballot, so I was ready to mark it as soon as it arrived.

I got out a dark pen as required, and started to color in the ovals. The presidential section came after the all the state-wide races. Obama and Biden were at the top of the list. I colored in that oval, then continued on to the rest of the ballot.

I sealed the ballot in the security envelope, then put the whole thing into the larger official balloting envelope, and put it into the mail with a stamp.

Lessons & tips: In general, it's convenient to get an absentee ballot, so you can mark your ballot at your leisure, and mail it in early.

Do not use an indelible sharpie on your absentee ballot - it will soak through the paper and spoil it. Use a ball point pen.

After voting, put a sign on your door, or color on a pumpkin on your front stoop: "We voted already" so canvassers don't have to stop at your door and urge you to vote.

How I did it: Went down to my polling place, a local high school, this morning.  I filled out the application to vote, showed my ID, and waited in line.  The line was about an hour and a half.  It didn't take me long to mark my ballot since I was prepared ... then I got my sticker and I was out of there.  It was well worth it!     Well that only took about 10 minutes. Thank God cuz of all the days this wasn’t one where I had time to wait in line for hours. Anyway… now I can go get my free cup of starbucks and krispy kream! Haha… I’m thinking about going to Obama party downtown tonight… I just think it would definately be a once in a lifetime opportunity but I’m a little worried. People are so psychotic about this election. I don’t want to get caught up in anything I can’t get out of.

    He has my vote!!! McCain’s decision to ask that dimwit Sara Palin to run for VP, I was dumbfounded…oh, and if I hear any more about this “Joe the plumber” I swear I’ll flip. The guy owes in back taxes, and we are not talking just a few thousands, but thousands beyond that. He has no plumbers license, his name is not Joe, but Sam, and the business he wants to buy isn’t worth the land it sits on! I guess ol’ Joe wanted his 15 minutes of fame, and he sure did get it….I only hope the IRS gets HIM! What a loser. This shows me that McCain made two big mistakes: Joe the “plumber” and Sara Palin, who’s dumb as a post!

    Well, I’ve been registered for a week now and I’m hearing horror stories of long voting lines.
    I plan on getting to the polls bright and early on November 4th and voting for the first time. :]

    Hopefully my first time will be a success and Obama will be the next president.

    Too bad Obama will lose my vote if he votes for this bailout package.

    There is a very good plan that Congressman DeFazio from Oregon has put together which allows Wall Street to pay for their own bailout.

    There is no reason on eargh to rush into a Paulson plan. There is plenty of time to figure this out. The world will not end.
    Ralph Nader may be getting my vote.

    This presidential race is driving me nuts. I am waiting for Obama to come up with a substantial speech on the economy and he hasn’t yet.

    McCain and Palin are sounding more like democrats and are really talking away on all the issues. I give them that. Obama better catch up on this.
