Right now I can currently bench 185 lbs, give or take about 5 lbs. So, if I can get my bench up to 200 lbs in 1-2 months, I’ll be happy. Here are my stats:
Weight: 140 lbs
Age: 15
Chest Measurement: 36’’ (NOT including my arms/shoulders and lats are not flexed)
Yes, I know I’m small, but hey if I can already bench 185 lbs, I’m sure if I work hard I will get 200 lbs eventually. By the way, I started a month ago with my max being 165 lbs (noob gains).

I haven’t done any barbell bench pressing for the last couple months. I had to establish a calculated max today by repping with near max weight. I ended up repping 205 eight times for a calculated max of 255!(yeah right)
Anyway, whether the estimated 1RM is correct or not, I tore 200 up with ease. Awesome.

I’m pretty sure I can get this now because I did 3 sets of 5 with 190 yesterday (new personal record). I’m going to hold off until next wednesday for the attempt though, as I’m on a strict program, and I’m not going to just throw a max-effort lift in the middle of a cycle.

For the longest time I have had this goal, and I just accomplished it yesterday. At 165 lbs, I finally managed to put up 200 unassisted. I haven’t tried to max out in quite some time and I actually felt like I could get up a little more, but I was so happy with this number that I stopped there.
My advice to those of you trying to do this is to mix up your chest exercises. Don’t limit yourself to standard bench pressing only. Use dumb bells for stability, decline, and incline. Also stop drop and do some pushups a couple of times throughout the day. Throw some low weight high rep lifts into the equation and you will reach your weightlifting goals before you know it. Just keep at it!

I’ve gotten 200 and then I realized it doesn’t really matter. It’s no different than 195 or 205. As long as you stay in shape and are happy with how you look, it doesn’t really matter how much iron you can pump.

I’m not really sure how close I am because I’m always at the gym by myself. I’ll just keep going with the dumbbell and nautilus presses and I’ll have to bite the bullet a get a spotter for the bench itself.
