I’m in the middle on the world’s longest self-paced semester. I am also learning modern Greek at the same time. I don’t recommend the combination (since native Greek speakers despise how Koine is pronounced and aren’t very shy about letting you know this. And they are very different in pronunciation, starting from the Alphabet up. Modern Greek is recent for me, in the last three weeks.

Ironically my tutor for Koine doesn’t do Koine, she has a classics degree which means she reads Attic, but we muddle along. I mainly have her to clarify grammar, odd-ball declensions and verb help.

PS: HisExcellency – that’s what I am using. I have the full set of Audio CDs and his graded reader as well. Highly recommend the CD lectures, his “cheat sheet,” and his flashcards. I’ll be posting all the vocab to iFlipper soon (an iphone/ipod touch flashcard program.) I’ve just been swapped at work and it has to wait til next month

I am tired of always having to rely on someone else’s interpretation of the New Testament, so I would like to learn it on my own.

I have my book! 3 years ago

I haven’t started my study yet, but I have my book so that when I finally get around to doing this, I’m prepared. I’ll be using Basics of Biblical Greek, 2nd edition by William D. Mounce along with the companion workbook.
