And we’re in the red again! In the GOOD way. Hooray! I’ll be continuing with the supplements & re-add this if my iron drops again, but for now it’s doing really well. :)

I’m still popping my pretty blood-red iron pills twice a day. I’ll go in to check my blood in a couple of weeks when I’m up for donation again. Maybe the third time will be the charm and they’ll embrace my veins (and give me the sweet, sweet cookies of glory).

If you’re not 100% sure that you’ve taken your iron on a given day, don’t (I repeat: don’t) double your dose. It’s just a very bad idea.

I picked up some new iron supplements. They’re 60mg instead of 35mg. Crossing my fingers…

Bugger. After all the vitamins and supplements and daily effort to pump up my iron, I failed the blood test (for donation) again.
I’m at 12.4 and my aim was 12.5 or higher.
I wonder if perhaps I should go in at a different time of the month? Maybe that would make a difference. And take an extra daily supplement. I’ll keep trying.

I’ve been taking iron supplements daily for a month and a half now. I’m able to donate at the blood bank again in just over a week (if my blood iron is high enough), so hopefully this has done the trick.

Let the ironing begin.
I’ve picked up some iron supplements & a new bottle of multivitamins. I’ll wash down the iron with a big shot of orange juice as well (when I haven’t had a recent coffee infusion).
Hopefully this will pick me up and make my blood acceptably enticing by the time I go back to donate.

I’m adding this after being rejected at the blood bank (sniff sniff) for having low blood iron.
There’s a good article here, and I’m going to see if I can get some iron supplements, my multi-vitamins must not have enough.
It wasn’t too low, but I’m aiming to have it up to donation standards by November, when I can next go in to give blood.
Haven’t been too good with eating lots of iron-rich vegies, legumes etc lately, but I have been taking my supplements.
