How I did it: "Cold Turkey" as they say.A little over a week ago I decided I was going to quit drinking alcohol. I was also addicted to pop that I'd mix with it. Finally I got tired of drinking both and decided I"m going to stop. Every time I had a craving for pop or alcohol I just told myself "NO!" and poured a glass of juice instead. This got rid of the cravings for me and now I'm drinking more water than juice as well.I don't want to think about goi… Read how I did it…

So this has been going really well. I drink mostly water, tea, bottled green tea, and orange/grape juice. It’s been great.
Yeah, I drink pop every once in a while, but as long as it is a rare occurrence, like once a week, I think it will be fine. I want to keep this up until January then I hope to cross this off my list!
Week 1 of no pop. My mom actually went out and bought me MORE because it was on sale but she said she’ll send it to my uncle’s. Since I don’t go out to the garage much anymore I don’t see it so it hasn’t really crossed my mind.

But there are serious cravings, which I gave into once, almost twice. Sometimes I’ll start eating out like crazy just so I have the opportunity to drink soda.

So as long as I don’t go buy soda at a grocery store I’ll have at least reduced my consumption.
And by soda I mean pop, since pop sounds way cooler and lamer at the same time.

OK…I admit. Every once in a while I’ll drink a Sprite.
In high school my mom decided to stop drinking soda, I can’t remember why. I think a doctor had told her to but I don’t remember anything being seriously wrong with her. So when we went out to restaurants, all she would order to drink was water.
Coffee (I know, not pop), with the high amount of caffeine in it gives me the shakes, even if I have only a few sips. Tea for some reason does not do this (despite the caffeine) and I don’t know why. But after drinking a soda once and puking as a result of tremors…I decided that what I was putting into my body wasn’t healthy (someone suggested I was allergic to a red dye in it?). So I joined Mom in always asking for water.
It’s amazing. You think it will be really hard to give up, but in the end you’re a lot healthier. It keeps weight off and requires you to get energy from sources OTHER than caffeine.

Finally had a relapse, after my boyfriend and I went camping for the weekend and allowed ourselves to both drink pop (it was camping, c’mon!) Then, the next week I was at camp, and the week after that was the fair… Suffice to say, I haven’t been very quick to stop again. Although I know I should!

I’ve been drinking a lot of pop again.
I recently went to the dentist and he told me that it seriously had to stop.
I really need to crack down on this.
