Rip my entire CD collection

Been having some computer issues lately, attempted to reinstall Windows quite a few times in the last week, one thing or the other was borked. Going to get back to my CD ripping, when I posted on 43Folders that I would rip all of them I intended to, and I still most definitely do, but a lot of things have gotten in the way in the last 2 years. Such is life.

I guess I forgot about this goal on 43Things from ages ago. I’m working on it again, ripping at a higher quality than before, still with DBPowerAmp on a newer dual core computer. I am also making an effort to get rid of the CDs I won’t listen to anymore and putting them into storage boxes. I am back on this goal, going to assess the others as well.

I added this to my list over two years ago…
and I finally bought an IPOD instead of trying to stab myself in the eye AKA use Windows media player…I am happy to say that as I type this I only have about 20 cd’s left to rip…this goal might be finished by the end of the week!!!

I just finished the last few CDs that i put off because i don’t listen to them often. I got a big LaCie drive so i figure i might as well use the space. iTunes was cranking through the songs so fast i could hardly keep up. Art Collector took care of the album art, and when i play the songs, pearLyrics will add the lyrics automatically. Sweet!

i uploaded all me cd’s on a torrent tracker called TheVikingBay(Icelanders only).

I’ll do that with Exact Audio Copy, FLAC codec and storing the files in a mirrored ZFS pool.

This was one of my favorite CDs a few years ago. It features acoustic versions of some of their greatest hits, as well as some covers and original songs. “Alone” is my favorite, and “These Dreams” is much better than the original, in my opinion. There’s also a really good interview with Ann and Nancy in the liner notes.

The last CD is being ripped as I type. I decided to skip doing a few CDs that I know I really don’t listen to all that often. The plan there is to rip them the next time I grab them off the shelf. Feels good to be done.

Now that I finally have a computer that runs without crashing when I attempt to do anything this is coming along rather well. I’m roughly 1/4 of the way done and should be able to finish in a couple more marathon sessions.

I think this is done. I’m pretty sure. If there are any CDs I missed, then they’re not worth ripping anyway.
