I have tried many distros, but ubuntu is the first desktop linux actually usable on desktop.
All the functions of my laptop is working right out of box, something never happened with Windows.
I delegated XP loaded with OSS apps to my secondary OS. And I am having lots of fun running ubuntu!

Ubuntu is a really good OS for beginners with GNU/Linux. It’s even more easy than windows.

After a long time of constant failures with getting Ubuntu functioning, it’s finally worked and is now as wonderful as is promised. I recommend it to anyone who wants to escape Windows, but doesn’t know what to go for

Ubuntu linux is a very polished linux distribution with
reasonable stability. The choice of gnome makes it quite user friendly.

gothelin is starting to get stuff done again.
Windows terminology is so stupid. That aside, after having Ubuntu installed for over a month now I have never once had to switch back to windows. And I never, ever will again.
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Linux for about 7 years. Ubuntu so far is the only version of Linux that I’ve used that has made me actively want to refrain from using windows. I love it. I’ve even installed Crossover Office so I can run MS Office without ever dirtying my HDD with windows.
Do it, do it, do it!!
