Great idea, no follow through. I’m taking a different direction, but my year has been just as exciting for me so far, just in a more introspective way. 4 years ago

March was an awesome month for outdoor adventures – I took my son skiing again.
Now, as for volunteering in April, I need to get on that. So far April has been a blur. Gotta slow things down. 4 years ago
I am hereby extending outdoor adventure month into March. This winter has been so weird – either oddly warm, or too cold (single digits) to go outside. And finances have been a bit too tight for a $200 skiing day.
So I’m giving it another month.
I did go sledding last weekend – that was fun. We’ll probably go again today. 4 years ago
Here are my ideas-in-progress, and some preliminary thoughts:
January – The month of adventure in all its forms
Whatever comes my way, I’ll try to say yes to
Skiing, church, saying yes to social invitations
February – The month of winter outdoor activities
Snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding, never tried ‘em
March – Hmm…not sure yet
April – The month of volunteering
Christmas in April, the shelter, whatever I can find
May – The month of creative endeavors
Writing, music, art, shows, museums, creating my own art
June – The month of relationships
Calling my friends, family, writing letters, making new friends
July – The month of mind/body experiences
Hot stone massage, acupuncture, meditation, ayurveda
August – The month of summer outdoor activities
Tubing, waterskiing, frisbee golf, rock climbing, backpacking
September – The month of personal appearance
Finally getting a tattoo, cool new haircut, clothes
October – The month of radical physical activity
I don’t know, but it makes me nervous just thinking about it. And it won’t be bungie jumping.
November – The month of NaNoWriMo/the month of radical relaxation
Oxymoron? Possibly. Lavender, chamomile, fleece wraps, naps, and insane and life-changing writing. And Starbucks.
December – The month of spirituality
Worship in whatever form, experiment with different spiritualities, observe the earth’s rhythms, cultivate gratitude 5 years ago
I realized today that I have set up my life so that I have so many opportunities, and I let them pass me by.
I have enough time (not a lot but enough) and enough money (same thing), to make this a year I won’t forget.
I’m planning to assign an adventure to each month, and to say yes yes yes to life.
I think January is going to just be an adventure free-for-all. Other areas I want to make adventurous are relationships, creative endeavors, personal appearance (time to get that tattoo), travel…
I’m really excited about 2007 – I think it will change the rest of my life.
