I'm trying it! 6 months ago

I don’t know why I didn’t do this ages ago. It took me forever to get up the guts to do it, but it’s been relatively painless so far, and I’ve met some nice people. I’m keeping at it for the time being.

online or offline? 2 years ago

That’s the question after reading this article:Valenti International or Match.com?.

    What do you think?

Mmmpff – September is approaching and I don’t have the slightest wish to start with this goal. My friend Elisabeth is getting quite exited in the meantime.

My friend Elisabeth and I have decided to give it a go in September. Of course I could always meet someone before…hope.

    So lets see.

I gave it three tries 3 years ago

I’d met nearly all my previous girlfriends via IRC (and nearly all the people my old circle of friends). I figured online dating wouldn’t be so bad.

    Without naming any names -

    - The first site was free. After quite a lot of messaging back and forth, one of the women I’d been getting to know said that she’d like to meet me. So I took it upon myself to take the risk, the time, and the expense of travelling about 1,000 miles to visit her. Long story short, we didn’t hit it off. Cupid shot and missed.

    - The second site I signed up for wasn’t free, but it wasn’t too expensive either. One of the women I met was absolutely nothing like she’d claimed to be. On top of that, she wasn’t single (when I had stated without exception I was looking for an exclusive relationship; it’s just how I’m wired, I guess). 30 days went by, and I cancelled my membership before they could bill me for another month. Right after that, they got some bad press and hired some celebrity doctor to pimp for them.

    - The third site I signed up with seemed like it might not be too bad, albeit a bit pricy. A couple of my friends had recommended it after they’d met some women who were exactly right for them. So I jumped through their hoops, got a profile and a summary of who would be right for me. One week in, and I’d been shot down more times than Snoopy had been by the Red Baron. I cancelled my account, got my money back. I have to admit though, they were dead on when it came to who I am and who I would find harmony with, at least on paper.

Never again. I’ll let her find me.

Des is slowly regaining her sanity (unfortunately?)

    It didn’t go so well.

    30-Day Trial 3 years ago

I joined an online dating service for one month, and tonight was my last night of the subscription. I was winked at, winked back, said no thanks, received ‘no thanks’, and made a few email connections too. All in all it was a worthwhile experiment. The rejection wasn’t as stinging as I had anticipated, and out of that I obtained a bit of courage to pursue other things I’ve been afraid to try.
