Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Survive my first New York winter

rocketChips does all her own stuntsNor'easter

That’s what they call it when all the clouds throw-up and a deluge of water and wind dumps on you from above. Ya know, there was no such thing as Nor’easters in Cali. I miss El Niño. 7 years ago

rocketChips does all her own stuntsHoly Sunshine Batman!

It’s officially Spring.
It’s 76-degrees outside.
The usually dark DUMBO is beautiful and bright.
This friggin’ goal is DONE!

rocketChips does all her own stuntsCherry Blossoms

I saw my first cherry blossoms today, which means Spring will soon be here. I feel cheated – the winter wasn’t bad at all as far as the cold and snow, so it feels like a hollow victory.
Stupid global warming. 7 years ago

rocketChips does all her own stuntsWell I do say ol' chap...

It’s snowing outside…finally…like real-stick-on-the-ground-snow.
Awesome!
But turn it off now because I have to go to work. 7 years ago

rocketChips does all her own stuntsSo....

I’ve been trying to delay writing about this, because I know as soon as I do I’m gonna regret it…but…WHERE’S THE FRIGGIN SNOW?!?
The weather has been crazy though. It was 20 degrees on Tuesday, and today it was 55. Sweet. 7 years ago

rocketChips does all her own stuntsUm...this is winter?

I come from California, so when it’s gets to the low-60s everyone grabs their jackets and muffs like it 20 degrees. So I was a little apprehensive about my first winter in New York – I’ve visited NY in the winter when it was snowing, but have never actually lived in it. But, uh, yesterday the low was 55 and the high was 67. 67! It was colder in California. And this time last year it was snowing here. (And they say there’s no such thing as global warming.)

But now just because I mocked the winter fairy it’ll be 10-below tomorrow. 8 years ago
