I’m tracking everything on Shelfari, too. 4 days ago

CrystalUh Oh! More books = 290 books left unread

I read a couple of books, got rid of a few that I didn’t care for once I started reading them. Then I get notified by paperbackswap site that a few wishlist books were available for trade, so . . . more books. Instead of the amount decreasing, it’s gone up. But, in my defense, the books on their way to me look really good, including Garbage Land and James Patterson’s new book, Private: #1 Suspect (really looking forward to reading that one ASAP!).

At least the books I’m getting are from credit I already had on the site and didn’t cost anything. 4 days ago

true_blue6 books to go!

I’ve just finished reading ‘Can You Keep A Secret’ by Sophie Kinsella last night.

The previous book was ‘Such A Perfect Sister’ by Donna Hay. Another good book. 1 week ago

I don’t have many books right now, as I moved across country, but have purchased a few new ones, so maybe I should start there since it’s not so overwhelming at this point.
Happy to say I finished one of them. Maybe this is a good idea for a big shelf of books: just pretend you only have one shelf of books to go through, get it done and then move on to the next shelf, or arrange them in such a way that you start with the books that appeal to you first. I guess any reading at this point is progress :) 2 weeks ago

valleyanne#05 - #07

In 2011 I got to Good Omens and The Journal Of Douglas Allen Deeds: The Donner Party Expedition (part of a box set of Dear America books).

So far this year, I’ve gone through A Game of Thrones. I’m working on the rest of the series; I ended up buy three more of them…I suppose I can count those towards this goal when I finish them. I’m hoping to get through one every two weeks, and at about 1000 pages for the trade paperback, I think I’ve already read more this month than I did in the last three or four months of 2011.

In other news, my list of owned and unread books keeps growing and growing. I have only myself to blame. It’s disappointing to know that my read to unread ratio is still out of whack. On the other hand, who can say no to more Sharpe books? (I feel a Sean Bean’s Characters appreciation marathon coming on…) 2 weeks ago

CrystalBooks Owned & Unread: 288 books

I organized all of my books on Goodreads.com and found that I have 288 books unread that I actually plan on reading in the future. (I was very bored at the time and probably should have been reading one of these books instead counting and listing!) Anyways, too many books unread for me to buy any more. These don’t even include the books that I’m currently reading; right now I’m in the middle of 5 different books. I like to bounce back in forth between different genres.

I’m in the middle of the following books:
- Curiosity Killed the Cat Sitter, by Blaize Clement (cozy mystery)
- Sympathy for the Devil, edited by Tim Pratt (short stories, horror?)
- Nightmares and Dreamscapes, by Stephen King (short stories, horror)
- Heist Society, by Ally Carter (young adult)
- Radio Shangri-La: What I Learned in the Happiest Kingdom on Earth, by Lisa Napoli (memoir) 2 weeks ago

_brookes_Untitled

It’s actually going well, have finished quite a few. Now if I could just stop buying more books I might actually complete this ‘Thing’ one day…. 3 weeks ago

claireinkoreaGetting there slowly

Well one surprising outcome of moving to London is that I find I suddenly have lots more time on my hands for reading. This is because I have a 45 minute commute to work and back on the tube every day – so that’s an hour and a half to read every day.

On top of that, having moved into a shared flat, I didn’t have room for all of my books in my new place, so I only brought the books I’ve never read and I have been working my way steadily through them. Since October I’ve read the first two Girl With a Dragon Tattoo novels, The Constant Gardener, Carrie Fisher’s autobiography, Naomi Wolf’s Promiscuities, The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake, PopCo, The Witch of Portobello, and probably others that I have forgotten. Once I’ve read all the ones currently on my bookcase, I’m considering treating myself to a Kindle! 1 month ago

sammmaStarting Point

This is going to be very difficult for me. At this point I have 68 books that I own and havn’t read. Also, my ratio of books I read to books I buy seems to be about 3 to 1. And this is only counting real books, not books I have on my kindle. I’ve decided not to include kindle books at all (sort of cheating, but whatever.)

So all I have to do is not buy anymore REAL books, and try to read more of the books I have on my shelf.

Or, I could give away some of the books I own, making the task easier. We’ll see… 1 month ago

oemalHelping the percentages

Well, this week I got rid of 3 books, but two I re-read before deciding to get rid of them. I feel like I more often report on this than reading books I actually keep…But each time I do this, it raises the percentage of books I still own that I’ve read, right? 1 month ago

bkwriter4lifeHow to track this?

I own so many books and I keep buying books, and there are books I’m re-reading (that I own) and…this is never ending. Maybe if I just list the books I own? I have too many books to read and not enough time! I’ll keep it at it. It’s going to take some time. 1 month ago

Eliza MarieBrave Eating Girl - Harriet Brown

read this book mostly because of work. Its very interesting and puts a lot into perspective.. Very good read… 1 month ago
