    Getting better 2 years ago

Today I didn’t get my paper so I can’t read it. >:( I’ve been doing better in general though. I at least look through my paper instead of just tossing it aside. I still have a stack of papers about waste high. I’ve been trying to scan at least one back issue every day. The problem is, I’ll see an interesting story-or a story that’s not interesting but it looks like the type of story I need to read – so I decide I’ll read it later and set the paper aside…again…but then I won’t read the story.

I want to read about government, education, business, and science. I don’t want to waste time reading the gossipy stories that have no value. Sometimes I still do though. :(

Papers piled high 2 years ago

I keep saving papers and not reading them.

    Classifieds 3 years ago

I need to look at these too. There are announcements from the city in there sometimes.

I’ve started saving my important parts. I don’t always get to them and they end up getting thrown out unread. I’m definately reading more than I used to but I could still do better.

What did I learn today? 3 years ago

I just read most of “the good parts” from my paper. I think I spent almost the last three hours reading. Yikes. I conked out at the business section so that’s the only part that I haven’t completely read. So I have to go back to it later. I actually did start reading the paper before I got on the computer so I did well there.

    TV news 3 years ago

I’m hoping that if I start to watch the news, it may make reading the paper seem less like drudgery. I think I might be able to get more interested in reading a story that I’ve seen a little about on tv.

I just need a jump start. I need a way to help me understand what I’m reading. It’s like I can read the words but I just don’t know what’s going on. I think news is like a soap opera. There’s years and years of backstory for all the important news. It seems like if you know the backstory, reading new installments would be so much easier. I don’t know any backstory. Almost every time I read something, it seems like nothing clicks. I just don’t get it.

This goal is done when reading the paper becomes a habit for me. Instead of coming home and hopping on the computer, I come home and open up my paper.

    Sunday 3 years ago

I read pretty much everything in Sunday’s paper. It was hard to figure out whether I really needed to read the opinion parts though. There’s some good info in there so I guess so. I don’t know how long it took.

Just the important parts 3 years ago

Not every section of the paper has equal merit. There’s world news vs. the funnies, local government vs. celebrity gossip. So it’s not my goal to read every inch of every column. I want to read the stuff that really matters. Learn something, you know.
