There just isn’t an itch to scratch, no app I want that doesn’t exist. I have the ability, but no motivation.

I picked up the book entitled Programming in Objective-C by Stephen G. Kochan so that I can teach myself Objective-C programming. Luckily, I can use this on my Windows laptop at work during lunch as well since the GNU gcc compiler compiles Objective-C code.
What I will not be able to do in the future is work with it on the Windows box when I am playing with the Cocoa API. That is further down the road, though.

I decided to go with Objective-C. A few weeks ago, my boss came to me and said that we might go with C++ instead of Java on a project that we were working on. So, I picked up and started learning the language.
I have the basics down and now I need to pick up the differences between it and Objective-C for the Mac.

I downloaded and installed Eclipse the other day. Eclipse is a development environment for Java. I did this so I could compare timings on some code that I had been working on. The Mac ran it about 15 seconds faster than my 2.4 GHz Windows based laptop.

This is another goal that I plan to begin working on when I get my new Mac this coming week. I do Java development at work, so that will come pretty easy on the Mac. I know that you can do things with Cocoa in Java, but as I understand it, using Objective-C is probably a better choice when it comes to Cocoa development. I need to pick up a good book and get started.
