never program php again

but I entirely plan to keep this.

i switched from php to coldfusion out of necessity, and feel like i’ve grown the better for it. sometime, i might switch to ruby when i get a chance.

So since my last post ruby has seeped into every aspect of our enterprise. All future projects seem to hinge on it. We’ve deployed several rails app!! Woo Hoo!

We’re gearing up to do some major modifications of an app here at work. It’s currently written in php which I used almost exclusively for over a year. Since my recent forays into the world of rails I have no desire to even look at php code again. I’m trying to convince everyone here that re-writing it in ruby could be a very good thing. So far it goes well and I’m met with no hostility and moderate skepticism. I’m considering spending my off time building the framework in rails. It’s really not an overly complex app. It shouldn’t take more than a week or two in rails.

I wrote a bunch of PHP and kept thinking ‘why does this hurt so much’. Then I found Ruby and understood. Now that Rails exists, I can’t understand why anyone would want to keep working in PHP.

installed rails today
