Inspired by the docu Al Gore’s “The Inconvenient Truth” I joined www.wecansolveit.org where I take part in online petitions etc. This is my own little way in making a big difference in this world.

ive volunteered at msep for the past few years of my life in the theater department putting my heart and soul my everything into it. putting hundred of hours in, and putting my own money into making it better. it is the most amazing thing ever and i will never forget it. i have met the most amazing people who have taught me so much and shown me what a family is. its opened so many oppurtunities for me and i hope to continue working with it for years to come

I started today 2 years ago

Basically, I’m helping them sort out their IT stuff. They badly need a few upgrades and I’ve done a quick inventory of their current system. I offered to prepare a proposal for their IT funding, that will help justify contribution from corporate sponsors, for hardware as well as software licenses. It felt great to be able to do this, after toying with the idea for so long. I don’t know how much time I’ll spend on it, but after today, this felt so right.

I met someone 2 years ago

..from the organization I’m planning to volunteer with. He talked about some of their goals, short and long-term. He related to me some of the things he had done since he got involved two years ago. He’s so committed that he’s leaving his job to do this full-time. His belief and dedication truly inspired me.

He was so pleased to hear about my IT background. Said they needed help setting up their database, sorting out their website and whipping their PCs into shape. I’ll start by visiting their office to check out what they currently have IT-wise. Then outline a short proposal on what can be done quickly as well as for the long-term. I’m excited by the prospect, this seems like something I could really sink my teeth into.

Made my first move 2 years ago

Wrote to someone about my interest in volunteering and she wrote me right back! I hope to meet her and exchange a bit more info, mainly to set the right expectations and assess how much time I’d like to invest in this. The organization I’m keen on is P.S. The Children which means Protect and Save The Children. From what I know, they focus on sexual abuse or children who are at risk, educating them about what’s right and wrong where interaction with adults are concerned. I’ve read enough to know that sexual abuse involving children can have a life-long impact which could lead to heart-breaking consequences. This organization trains people on how to talk to kids and the use of play as part of counseling. So far what I’ve read about them convinces me that their’s is a worthy cause. We’ll see what develops from here.

Hi everyone, my names chris parker you can see my web site at chrisparker.com, you’ve seen all the websites, promising cash if you’d click this banner, signup with these people, and surf those sites. They promise low cash payouts, and high income opportunities, and a whole lot of other stuff. But promises are cheap, and you can waste a lot of your time going to websites that are scams. So, what I’m going to do here, I’ll give you the next 20 people a $100 dollar check that buys ONE and ONLY ONE $13.00 shirt from cafepress.com. Please before you take me to be just another scam please just here what I have to say. First of all I’m not getting any of the money that you buy the shirts with only cafepress.com and supportkids.com is, and I’m not affiliated with ANY companies not even Cafepress.
If you don’t believe me well you have your own mind but I’m telling you that I WILL give you a check or send it to you via paypal for supporting these kids. Why I’m I doing this? because just 12% of the money that you give will go to supporting www.supportkids.com and the all the children that are being supported by that organization. I do not work for supportkids.com but I myself am just a regular guy, I’m married with 3 kids and one has leukemia and he is in the hospital right now. I am asking you this because I have tried the earn money on the web from these legit business opportunities and I don’t know about you but NONE of them has worked for me but now I have a cause because supportkids.com is my childs sponsor right now and they are the only organiztion that offered to help me in this really bad time for my family. so please I will not waist your time as soon after you receive your shirt I’ll contact you via email for information on where to send your check.

here is the link to the shirt http://www.cafepress.com/elmia

(you only have to purchase one if you’d like)

thank you so much for your time

- Chris

Consider Rebuilding Together. Go to their website to learn more. If you have more time, consider the Boys and Girls Club or the ASPCA in your hometown or city. They are ALWAYS hurting for volunteers.

Perdana Global Peace Forum 3 years ago

I read in today’s paper that PGPF was seeking volunteers. They recently had a summit here in KL and among others, resulted in the formulation of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration.

I’ve emailed the contact person with my details. Hopefully I will hear from them soon on how I can play my part in promoting the cause for world peace.

“It is a well-known fact that the best place for the cultivation of peace and human brotherhood is in the minds of men. As a man becomes literate, his mind becomes exposed to the bigger world of knowledge. He becomes more enlightened and receptive to ideas and attempts for the preservation of peace; and what is more important, greater also will be his incentives to act for the sake of peace.”

- Tun Abdul Razak bin Dato’ Hussein, Malaysia’s Second Prime Minister
