    Nightly ritual... 2 years ago

This past week I’ve been doing charcoal apple studies most nights…another good idea for a daily ritual.

I haven’t done this in quite awhile…just purchased a book by the French art professor, Lecoq, and I’d like to start up my visual memory exercises again using his methods. A daily morning cafe visit would do me well.

I think I've got it 2 years ago

yoga and/or writing in my journal. Now all I have to do is start writing. I am also going to start taking photographs again, and possibly selling them. Last time I quit just as I was starting to get them sold.

MY DAILY RITUAL (starting Dec 6, 2006) 2 years ago

I will wake up at 8:00am, leave home by 9:00am, drive to San Francisco Coffee and draw my daily composition (Nicolaides, pp52-53) of something I’ve seen within the last 24 hours. This is a gesture study/memory drawing where I will focus on movement of the whole—think of figure, place and objects as one. They don’t have to be right – they can be all wrong.

Show the figure in relation to its environment.

    examples:
    1) a person getting into their car
    2) a woman examining merchandise in a store
    3) a man lighting a cigar
    4) a person paying his restaurant check
    5) children playing
    6) a woman in a hair salon

you will never use a model for these drawings – they are specifically from memory
