I only recommended this for professionals who are also willing to
take risks, but one way to achieve it is to start doing a project
with Rails without telling anybody (assumptions: rails is applicable for the task in hand, and choice of technology is still open). Then you create project using rails, show it to everybody who go like “oooh! nice!”. Of course you do your unit/functional/integration testing so that it won’t blow up during demos..

Since I added this entry, I’ve discovered that what I really meant was “Get a job where I can code in Ruby all day”. As of a few weeks ago, I’ve done this, and believe me, it’s worth it.
by leaving it :) Now I sit at home and code in rails all day long.

Giving up on this for now. Instead I’m aiming to master Rails.
This weekend marks the beginning of my work with Zaadz, a company whose vision is to create tools for conscious living – how can you not love this goal:
“The quick version of what we’re gonna do: build THE most inspired community of people in the world… Imagine social networking with a purpose, a community of seekers and conscious entrepreneurs circulating wisdom and inspiration and wealth and all that good stuff.”
I’ll be changing the world and coding in Rails all day at www.zaadz.com … I’ve met one of the CEOs already and talked to several of the developers already involved, and everyone’s incredibly passionate about what we’re doing.
That’s the key to success.. passion.

I’ve been using my commuting time to develop a Rails app recently… and have enjoyed both the learning and the productive ideas upon which Rails is designed.
Now, if only somebody would pay me to develop in Rails!
I run a web design company, and adopted Rails as my platform a couple of months ago. I can’t tell you how much more enjoyable work is when you’re not messing around with identical SQL queries.
It’s still work, so there are still days when I just can’t be bothered, but there’s a lot less of them now :)
I love Ruby as a language. It’s natural, smooth, and I love the meta-programming abilities. I would love to be allowed to do this. At the moment, the most I’ve done is write scripts that automate my desktop and some that create Java code for our project.
