The problem is in so many words “Zoning”
I live in the country on a main highway that has businesses on both sides of me, but when I called zoning a few years ago about putting a business sign on my front lawn for my web design company they said that I was in a residential zone. I find that hard to believe since their are businesses running right across the street from me.
Anyways, they said I could put a sign up, but it had to be a certain size, and so many feet away from the main road. Plus they wanted me to pay them a fee as well. I ignored them and put up my sign anyways. Have never heard a thing from them.
Now the time has come where I would really like to utilize the space in my 3 car garage and run a new business out of it, but I am afraid that zoning will never go for it. I will probably have to rent a building in a commercial zone. Sucks though, because I own a large lot with planty of space for parking and my business would never dispupt the flow of traffic.
I don’t know, I guess I will have to research this more before jumping in to anything.
