NG is trying to get it together and organize her life
I’ve been searching for a good book club in my community, I found 2, one of them is via Internet, a forum partially about books, discussions are maintained via MSN. It was not the best way to hold discussions within a large group of number! Also most of the members are still students so they have to stop sessions a lot coz of exams.
The second one is more of a book club in it’s traditional meaning: people getting together to to talk about a book almost every month. The problem is, they discuss books that are sooo not interesting at all! Books that I can pass by in any book store without even looking at them!
So, since these are my only options for now, will I ever find a decent book club?
I’ll keep searching, if not I’ll start one of my own.
You may ask why not make one right now and get over with it? Well, sometimes I can get really busy at work which makes administrating a book club and maintaining regular sessions almost impossible, so I decided to keep this as my last resort.
We’ll see how it goes.

Greetings everyone, I’m a long time member of 43things. With some of the skills I’ve learned in my “things” over the past few years, I’ve acquired the skills to build things on the web. One of them happens to be an online space for creating book clubs.
It’s called Booksprouts, and it’s designed so that people can create a book club, invite friends, create meetings, and discuss and review books online. Anyway, it’s all pretty new and we’re pretty excited to get it online. We’d really like to get some people to use it and let us know what they think about, and garner suggestions! It’s all pretty new so criticism and broken pieces noted would be really helpful.
You can check it out at: http://www.booksprouts.com
Cheers and happy reading!

Not to pat myself too hard on the back, but i’ve started a book club with a few good friends and work associates. So far we’ve read 3 books and have just chosen a 4th! In addition to that, i’ve read 2 other books in the downtime between selections (and also when I just haven’t enjoyed one of the book selections. i found it was easier to get into a new book while trying to complete the one for the club). whoopsies!
creating the book club really gave me the push that i needed to get off of my lazy butt, get to the bookstore (b/c libraries in Queens, New York are currently not open on Saturdays….and I work 5 days a week, hello!), and get my Read on :)
I support anyone else who is trying to get their own lazy butts in gear :)
