help me enjoy exercise 5 months ago

Right now I really don’t like exercising. If someone would help me I would be so happy.

I've slacked off quite a bit but I'm joining a new gym... 23 months ago

My personal circumstances changed, so it became really difficult for me to get to my gym, and so I essentially stopped going. I’ve now started at a new job and there is a nice gym LITERALLY next door to my office. I plan to join that gym when my last membership expires at the end of February and then I can go to that gym at lunch or before or after work – hopefully it will help!

Headphones and partners. 2 years ago

One or the other. I love working out with Mikaela and Curtis. And if they’re not available, the headphones really help. I’ve been paying attention to how my body is moving and focusing on my form. When I can stay focused I really enjoy it. Of course, there’s the occasional day where I don’t really want to be at the gym, but after a couple minutes I can usually get into the swing of it. Having the goal of doing 100 sit-ups in 100 days has helped. I can actually say that I enjoy going to the gym. Good Luck !!

Another thing that has helped me... 2 years ago

Another thing that has helped me has been to stop beating myself up when I don’t go to the gym for a while. Forever, my pattern has been: Get all excited about this goal, go to the gym every day for three weeks, miss one day due to being tired or something else, give up on the goal. I have had to consciously let myself miss even up to a week or two here or there and still remind myself that there is no reason to give up. I slowly feel like it is becoming a habit. It’s taking longer than usual, but I’m hoping that it will stick this time!

The key... 2 years ago

is simply going with someone. I went a couple times with a friend and girlfriend and had fun. Too bad it doesn’t happen all the time. Well, maybe it’s a good thing because I don’t want to get too big, it’s hard enough fitting through the door as it is :) This is funny if you’d see me… (that’s not really me).

I joined a fancy gym! 2 years ago

I’m usually not an advocate of spending extra money when you don’t need to, but I really feel like this is making a difference for me. I joined a fancy, all-women’s fitness center and it really feels like I am working out at a spa when I am there. I am learning to enjoy exercise a lot more because I really feel motivated to work hard when I am there, since the facilities are so nice and the staff is so helpful – even the other members are encouraging! I am very hopeful that I am well on my way with this goal!

I figured out... 2 years ago

that exercising is extremely enjoyable when you have a workout partner. I really miss mine and I’m sure that’s why I’ve had difficulty with working out lately…

exercising and blogging 2 years ago

I have an idea to blog about my exercising or at least post one about exercising. The idea came to me while on the elliptical, so I’m excited about thinking about blogging while doing cardio. I have been making a connection between wanting to be a pesco-vegetarian, wanting to become a personal trainer, and, well, all of my other 43 Things and how everything is connected. It’s about giving 100 percent (another 43 Things, The Four Agreements), which I’ve always done physically at the gym and now I’m starting to come around mentally. I didn’t ‘hate’ my workout yesterday.

I hate going to the gym 2 years ago

I like the result of exercising, I just don’t want to suffer through it. I go on the eliptical machine and try not to stare at the timer, look around, watch television, etc. Using weights is different, the quicker I do it, the quicker I’m out of the gym. When doing cardio I can’t make the damned clock speed up, at least honestly I can’t do that. I’m working on moving meditation while on the cardio machines.
