How to become a reiki master

How I did it: I happened upon Reiki one day when I was waiting in the dentist's office to have a root canal when I picked up a magazine that had an article about Reiki. I immediately knew that this was something that I was supposed to do. I found a Usui Master who I worked with on Levels 1 and 2 (waiting a year between them)--she is one of Mrs. Takata's 21 Masters--and then waited another year before finding two masters that were closer to me. They agreed to take me to the Master level. It has been a powerful gift. My husband is a Reiki II and we give each other Reiki every night before we fall asleep. Lessons & tips: I'm a traditionalist when it comes to teaching--I believe that there should be an exchange of something, whether it is money or something else. I have taught several Level 1s for free and many do not seem to value it or use it. The saying that one values what one pays for has been true for me. Most Level 1 courses are fairly inexpensive (although they weren't for me). Resources: The internet to find a teacher and several great books on Reiki for additional information. |

How I did it: In my area Reiki is taught one of two ways: you can take level 1 & 2 in a weekend, and take the level three three weeks from your weekend. I never ended up taking it from these local Reiki masters because they were so expensive. I took a class that dealt with energy healing, and one of the girls was taking her Masters, and gave me her teachers card.I emailed the teacher and took the class with her. Almost! I just took level 3, and I get my Masters later this month/ beginning of July! I am excited! I also have a student already! She’s just waiting for me to get my Masters, and I’ll attune her! YAY!

I came across Reiki when I was suffering from low energy. Ever since I have been attuned and practiced Reiki, I have had extraordinary levels of energy. Not only that, but my body and mind went through a deep cleansing period for about 3 weeks after my attunement, and ever since then I have felt great! To become a Reiki Master, it is important to pick out a teacher who you feel connected to and trust. I teach Reiki I, Reiki II and Reiki III in a one-day course in Caboolture, Brisbane Australia. I’m almost there. I received my second attunement last November and am actively pursing some of the “requirements” before becoming an master. For example, getting my documented full-treatments and documented distance healing treatments in too (plus reading material etc.). So… hopefully by summer time.

Reiki has been such a blessing to my life. I had been working within a spa and we utilize philosophies of Ayurvedic medicine and chakras. This was always one of my favorite areas and so I sought to discover a little more. This managed to lead me to Reiki. I became a Reiki I and here over a year later my boyfriend and I have a beautiful daughter. We had conceived around the time of my attunements and I had been practicing on him often. This served as such a blessing to us as he is a cancer survivor and we didn’t think we would ever be able to have children. My master said I was the 4th person who had received attunements and conceived when they had been told otherwise. I have since referred a client of my own to receive Reiki and she too is now pregnant. The power of energy and the privilege to serve as a conduit and really make a difference is what drives me to become a Reiki Master. However, with a little one around I’ve been horrible at practicing it often. I need to invest more time and gain more insight before Reiki II and this is where I stand and struggle now.

I’ll be taking my Reiki II this September, so I’ll be one step closer to my goal then!
I no longer want this. The arena that most interests me is the more straightforward branch of energy healing- through channeling and manipulation of the energy field, paired with some sort of therapy.
I’ve researched Reiki somewhat and have found out that many of the ancient teachings were mistaken/misinterpreted/manipulated to some extent and that makes me very wary- for those of you who are pursuing this path, I dont mean to be discouraging. I’ve also read that more accurate original information has been found- you just have to be thorough in your research and choice of teachers [as with anything else].
Perhaps I will explore this avenue later on, but for now I am putting it to rest and in its stead I will come up with a goal that I am more impassioned about.
