Napa Valley
I’ve been to Napa Valley about 50 times. In fact, Calistoga, in the north end of the valley, is one place I hope to live someday. This is a wine lover’s heaven on earth. I’m always in search of the best cab, and my favorite wineries for good cabs are Chateau Montelena, Saint Clement, and Cols Du Val (the quintessential Napa cab taste). For merlot, Ruthoford is the best. For zin, you can’t get better than Storybook Mountain. For a unique dessert wine, Van der Haden harvests his cab grapes late after they reach 30% sugar content. It’s fantastic. Other than wine, there are so many things to do and great B&Bs to stay in. It’s really a beautifukl place.

This past October I tourned Napa Valley with two of my good friends. We visited a couple vineyards (Beringer and Sterling) and took a trip on the Napa Valley Wine Train. It was an awesome weekend, and I highly recommend the Wine Train and Sterling Vineyards as something to do and a great place to go.

Napa is really nice (and famous) but Sonoma County is, in my opinion, much nicer! The places are a little smaller so most of them have a large selection of wines to taste for free. In Napa it costs a lot to go tasting there. Napa is really aiming for very wealthy people and business groups that are willing to spend a ton of money. The people who work in the tasting rooms in Sonoma are more willing to talk and give advice. It’s lovely!
