~*Serenity*~My Chili turned out so Yummy, This is a story { a true story} about sharing the Chili

I took Chili to my dad today. I took it over before he got off work, this way mom doesn’t have to cook and he has hot food as soon as he gets in. My father has maybe one day off a week, if he gets that. Hes’ on call every other week, and does Hot shot when ever they need him. There are times his days are the longest I’ve seen a man work. {He sets a high standard for taking care of his family that most men I’ve known, can not stand up to}.

I’ve lived by my family for the past year but haven’t cooked much for them. My Dad is diabetic, but he can have chili So…

Being the daughter I am {earning those brownie points} I take a break from studying and go…

Dad called me about 10 min ago, Here is my phone call {he hates, I mean hates talking on the phone and usually talks through my mom.. for true he does}
Phone Rings:
Hello. Big Booming Man Voice Hello… is this Serenity?
{I knew it was my dad, Big Booming man voice very distinctive}”Yes it is”.
“Serenity this is the VERY Handsome man, who lives across town from you, {at this point I start laughing} “Well, hello very handsome man who lives across town from me”.

Well, Seren I was calling because you brought some Chili over to my house so I wouldn’t starve. That was some damn good chili, Thank you. It really wasn’t enough for me and I wasn’t going to share with your mama, but she ate so much of it before I got home and well there was just a small bite of it left. I made it through pretty good, It was some of the best I’ve had, If I had more {Laughing pretty hard now, My Dad is a Very Big man, my Mama is a little itty bitty thang}...

I’m glad you liked it Dad and that you shared with mom.
Seren did you take a shower while you were over here?
No, sure didn’t.
“It’s okay if you did”
“I didn’t dad”
“Do you want to take a shower over here”? Nah, I have a shower here at my house, thanks anyway…

Okay well Serenity? “Yes”.
Is that all you wanted? “ummm, you called me Dad”
OH, Yeah… Well, I’ll Be here at home all night, I have real hot water in the shower if you want to take a shower…
I will be here, well, over there laying on the couch watching the news, if you want to come over and see me, you won’t even have to bring more Chili, well unless you really want to.
I am making your Mama move off of the couch so I can lay down now… Here, at home… Where I will be all night.

Alright Dad Bye. “Bye honey I’m over here waiting”....

....Going to see my Dad now… Sigh.

I wrote this just as soon as it happened. I then studied for another hour {long enough for him to take a quick nap, he is just like me, we don’t sleep much and power naps are great things} then I went to see my dad and give him attention.

Flirt MMMM....GOOD!!!

Nothing better on the first cold, rainy day of the year than having a pot of chili simmering on the stove. 6 years ago

~*Serenity*~I don't even know it I spelled Chili right.. It doesn't look right,

but that could be my dyslexia speaking to me.

I have been wanting some chili, you know that kind that you simmer all day. My children are not fond of chili and with my Vegetarian daughter {ugh, meat}. Well, I haven’t made any in months and months and months.

so, regardless of the {make me crazy} Vegetarian, and the {I will eat anything but chili} son. I’m makin’ me some.

I was talking to this guy today, I meet him in the grocery store of all places. He was shopping with his teen who had to be 6’3” . I was there with my tribe trying to get the essentials.
you know how that is with children. Your thinking butter, milk, eggs. They’re thinking ice cream, pop tarts, Ramon noodles {?}.
My son comes up behind me, Mama I got the noodles, something just told me it was not Egg noodles. I just straightened up {was picking something up from the bottom shelf}...

Son, you got an entire box didn’t you. Well, this man was watching I surmise. Because he starts laughing, “you didn’t even have to look and you knew”....

Yeah, you kinda know your kids. He starts to tell me how his daughter makes them and adds other things to them, well this got us on stir fry.. I don’t know how, just go with it.
We ended up talking about how much I like to cook but my children are all about “no meat” and “Quick” so I don’t get to just have fun much…

Apparently this man has children like mine, so we were reminiscing about how nice it is to have a home cooked meal and sit down to eat it… Sigh….. nice.

Okay that is the reason I’m making chili. Not really, a five course home cooked meal. But, something I have been wanting. I had a pretty darn good time grocery shopping today.

And guess what, it was cold. Very cold for Texas and raining..

You know what that means…........

{oh I forgot. I’m roasting garlic right now, and the meat is all cooked, so that in the early am I can put the chili on to make the house smelling all good in time for lunch.. I love garlic, especially roasted. Yummy} 6 years ago
