EXTENDED VERSIONS 2 years ago

It took about 13 hours, with short food breaks. Altogether, a nice Sunday. I got a lot of knitting done at the same time. It’s a day-long task, and I don’t think I’ll do this again until…oh…I have children and they’re old enough not to get the beejesus scared out of them.

I spent all day watching movies, and I’m EXHAUSTED.

You gotta love the movies to do this one. 2 years ago

I think this is worth doing only in the cinema, like I did it, or perhaps as part of a group activity with friends. They’re not only designed for cinematic viewing, but also you have fewer distractions so you won’t be able to take a significant break. Will make you seem more hardcore!! Its a hard slog but worth it if you really love these movies.

I liked these movies, though it annoyed me that the plotline differed from the book in some points. I would also recommend not to do this at night time, because my viewing was all night , so it was tough staying awake by the end of the third.

Complete it, and any cheers you get will be well deserved!

Movie Marathon Party! 3 years ago

My teenage boys invited a bunch of their friends over for a Lord of the Rings Movie Marathon. They watched all 3 special edition movies back to back with breaks in between for trivia games and food. They had Minas Tirith Munchies, Shire Grog, Lothlorien Lembas, Orc brain, The Dead Marsh Mash, Uruk-hai Birth Pudding (Yum!), and even The One Ring Cake. It was a long party, beginning at noon and not ending till 1:00am, but everyone enjoyed it so much we are trying to think of some other movie marathons to host.

Sam and I watched all three today, it was fun. Although I came soooo close to falling asleep at the end.

Smartest snail got an email from Jules and it made her day!

I am a loser 3 years ago

I know it. I can’t and don’t deny it. I never thought I was into things like that until Lord of the Rings came out. Next thing I know I’m going to movies opening day, joining the fan club, getting magazines and even getting an elvish writing tattoo on my foot. I know. LOSER. My friends tell me all the time. But watching them back to back, its the best way to spend a rainy, crappy weather day. Trust me on this.

Its not because I have some deep seeded love for the books/movies…I’ve never seen the slightest bit of either. Not to offend anyone, but I really think they are dorky and stupid. And that is simply because I’m just not into stuff like that, and I’m sure that if I told most LOTR fans that I used to be obsessed with Otown, they’d agree that I am also a dork…But I feel like if I saw all the movies, like in a row that I would understand them and perhaps like them. From what I’ve heard its an awesome story and the film is pretty good, but I know that I’ll never sit down to read it, for lack of interest and moreover, lack of time…so I feel like my best bet is the movie. And for the record, anyone hoping that if they sit down and listen to all two of the Otown records that they will like them, don’t add that to your list of things to do…it won’t work.
