Since two weeks ago, I am taking salsa lessons! It seems to be going good, we started with the basics.

What else are you going to do with your evenings? Properly done this is semi decent exercise. Your spouse will love it.
This is a fun one. I used to be a dancer, so it shouldn’t be too hard to pick it back up. I think it would be fun to go to a dance one day and be able to be in (and WIN!) and dance off!
Lesson 5 is tomorrow night. I’m doing well. Learning swing, salsa and waltz. As my 7-year old nephew said when he saw us dancing: “You look real.” .
Well, last night was my first dance lesson. They make it look so easy! HA. We were all learning the swing, salsa and waltz—though after 1 lesson, I don’t remember anything. I can’t tell you how hard it is to try to watch the instructor, move your feet and body and arms…while facing a strange man. I get 2 lessons a week for 6 weeks and am promised I will dance with “ease on the dance floor.” Tonight is lesson 2. We’ll be doing the swing-hustle, salsa and rumba.
My feet are a little sore but that just makes me feel like a dancer! Speaking of that… I really want a pair of silver dancing shoes! Well, maybe not. But one day I’ll invest the $75 in a pair of special dancing shoes, the T-strap type with the ankle strap. I’ll let you know in 6 weeks.
I’m really tired of doing the “bear hug shuffle” or pretending to know how to dance but not knowing any real steps. Watching other people move in unison and twirl properly makes me envious. I noticed a new dance studio about 8 miles from my place but I can’t remember the name of it. “something dance studio” I think.
I’m going to research this because there’s a family wedding coming up in 2 months… what if there’s dancing and I CAN DANCE!
Remind me to look for the name and number!
On those few rare occasions where impromptu proper dancing has taken place I have had to cower in a corner in shame and embarassment (and there have been times where there were no corners to hide!). Very painful experiences, so it would be good to be able to learn a few basic moves and dances, and try and make my body behave itself instead of acting like the lump of lead that it is. It feels like one of those shopping trolleys that you just can’t control :(
just that i want to learn proper dance eg. ballroom or latin… any takers?
