How I did it: Budget, budget, budget. I made a spread sheet and included monthly savings in the final total. I made setting aside money something that I HAD to do and not something I only did if I felt like it. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I decided there was a 3 day music festival on that I really wanted to go to, so I knuckled down and SAVED. Basically didnt spend my hard earned money on lots of crap like food or coffees, and I had enough! However, the party was crap, and I wish I hadn't spent that much money on it now. :( Read how I did it…
How I did it: Set aside money from my birthday, christmas, and taxes. It was hard not to spend free money, but I just pretended I didn't have it and used my paychecks for stuff I needed. All this totaled a little more than a thousand. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I have been cashiering part time to pay for my trip to Germany. I have to constantly remind myself of my total goal... and that is my trip. It really helped me when I set up my checking account, because I had a separate savings account. I would put the money I was saving for my trip in there, and still have money to spend in my checking account. It was easy to convince myself that the money in my savings account didn't exist, because I wo… Read how I did it…

How I did it: Worked all christmas and earned commission. I get paid monthly so it was tough waiting for my January paycheck, but it was so worth it!:-) $1105.12 later I'm sitting here...super happy!:-) Although I don't know how long it will last!! Read how I did it…

chasingclouds is looking toward the stars.
I actually accomplished this a week ago, and I’ve actually exceeded my $1,000 goal, which is all for the better as this money is my moving & bills fund for the next couple of months.
I’m still saving more before I actually move.
ambergamgee is writing her first research papers in years
I work as an assistant preschool teacher (not a lot of money) and live in Seattle (costs a lot of money) and I spend around $120 a month on the dentist, except next month where I’ll be spending about $400. Also will be going back to school in the fall. But if I manage my money right, I know I can, I know I can…
ButterflyBubbles is trying to save her marriage and failing at it...
I have 300 hundred I’ve been saving for some time.
I mean totally free, not attached to anything money.
So that’s my start.
To make it easier to remember
I’ve made a little pretty money box with a slot just big enough to put the bills in, but just too small for me to be able to take the money out. I mean in a harmless for the box way – lol. I set the box in the kitchen, right by where we keep the keys… every loose bill I have in my pocket or purse (no singles!) goes straight to the box! I don’t even think about it, it sort of happens on its own – I’m pretty sure there is already close to a 100 there as well, but I think I will wait with opening it till its completely full.
If I can wait that long that is :P
So far so good.
Hopefully nothing stupid will happen and I will update on it soon.
Be smart.
Peace.
At 700 now! I have no major money-eating things ahead of me right now, so I could really make it this time. And after this is completed, I’ll start paying off my loans.
baj1985 let's go Tribe!
My mom just retired so she’s going to be able to help me do some yard sales this year, which should bring in a few hundred dollars, yeah we have that much stuff to get rid of. As long as I put it in the paper I have no doubt we’ll make that much money, and instead of spending it like I always do I plan on putting it in my savings account. I really need to get back on track with saving, I plan on saving $10-$25 from each paycheck, as long as I get consistent hours again, and then whatever I make from the internet and yard sales and things like that, I plan on taking that and putting it in my savings.
My savings took a big hit because we had to put down a security deposit on our new apartment, so I must start saving again!
